The System Audit Configuration section provides configuration settings for the audit logging facility, and dialogs for viewing audit logs. Audit users are also permitted to download and clear audit logs.

Before you Begin

  1. Enable Session Management. Refer to Configure Session/User Management.
  2. Enable User Management. Refer to Using the User Management Page.

Enabling System Audit

This section outlines how to enable the system audit.

To Enable the System Audit

  1. Choose Users > System Audit.

  2. Configure settings using the information in the following table as a guide. When you have finished configuring settings, click Submit to make your changes take effect.

    System Audit Configuration Parameters

    Enable Audit Logging

    Select the Enable Audit Logging checkbox.

    Audit Log Size Alert Threshold (10-100%)

    Set the log file size alert by entering a value from 10% to 100% in the Audit Log Size Alert Threshold (10-100%) field.

    Audit Log Fields

    Opens a new window to view audit log information. See Viewing Audit Logs.

    DateTime stamp of event occurrence.
    UserUser performing the event.
    Event Type

    Type of event:

    User-authorization

    Config-change—Changes to the device configuration

    System-alert—Miscellaneous system alerts (for example, log size alert)

    Event Severity

    Severity of the event:

    INFO—Informational

    WARN—Warning

    ERROR—Error

    Event Status

    Event success or failure. A failure or success may apply, in which case an NA indicator is displayed.

Viewing Audit Logs

This section outlines how to view the audit logs.

To View the Audit Logs

  1. Click the To view Audit Logsclick here link to view audit logs. Audit log parameters are described in the System Audit Configuration Parameters table.

  2. Click Prev or Next to see additional audit logs.

    • Clear Audit logs—Available for audit users only. Follow the link to clear audit logs. Audit logs can only be cleared when all records have been backed up via download.

    • Download Audit logs—Available for audit users only. Follow the link to download audit logs. Audit logs can only be cleared when all records have been backed up via a download. The download link is only available when there are entries in the log file.

Disabling System Audit

This section outlines how to disable the system audit.

To Disable the System Audit

You must disable System Audit to turn off User Management.

  1. Choose Users > System Audit.
  2. Un-check the Enable System Logging checkbox and click Submit.
  3. Click OK at the system prompt.
  4. Refer to Disable User Management.
