1. Choose Network > Traffic Shaper.
  2. Select the Enable Traffic Shaping check-box.

    Note

    You do not have to enable Enable GRED/LLQ Shaper to use basic traffic shaping features.


  3. Enter the Downstream and Upstream bandwidth values for your WAN connection in kilobits per second (Kbps). By default, these values are set to 1450 Kbps for a T1 link.

  4. Configure Media Differentiated Services Code Point (DSCP) settings.

  5. Expedited Forwarding is set by default (recommended).

    Or select one of the following priority settings:

    1. Choose a number from the IP Precedence drop-down list to enable IP layer packet classification to determine priority.

    2. Choose a setting from the Assured Forwarding drop-down list to configure levels of forwarding assurances for IP packets.

    3. Enter a number between 1 and 63 in the Custom Value (1-63) field to specify a custom rule for non-standard per-hop behavior.

  6. Configure IPv4 settings:


    1. Select the Enable TOS Byte/Traffic Class Stripping check-box to strip (set to 0) the ToS byte from non-RTP traffic (default).

    2. Select the Enable TOS/Traffic Class based routing check-box to route all VoIP packets through the main WAN interface.

  7. Select the Enable Call Admission Control check-box to use a combination of values to determine the maximum number of calls to allow through the system:


    1. In the Maximum call allowed on the Primary WAN field, enter the number of calls that can be achieved through the WAN connection. The maximum number of calls for your system is set in your license key.

    2. In the Maximum calls allowed on the Secondary WAN field, enter the maximum number of calls that are supported by your hardware platform.

  8. Select the Enable SIP Inactivity Monitor check-box to enable RTP activity monitoring on all calls.

  9. Enter a value in the SIP Inactivity Timeout (min) field to determine a timeout period of inactivity (no RTP traffic in either direction) for a SIP call before it is torn down and deallocated by the system. The recommended value is 90 minutes (default).

  10. Click Submit to save all settings on the page.

    A message indicates that service will be temporarily interrupted.

  11. Click OK to confirm.
