The EdgeMarc is shipped with five distinctive ring patterns (Ring-0 through Ring-4) that are available for use when ringing an analog phone on the FXS/phone port. The EdgeMarc automatically selects a ring pattern based on the number that is being called or the number that originated the call.
Distinctive Ring Pattern Rules
By default, the appliance is configured to use Ring-0 for all calls. You can assign different ring patterns based the types of rules listed in the following table.

Caller-Pattern-match | Uses the ring pattern if the caller’s phone number matches the pattern. |
Called-Pattern-match | Uses the ring pattern if the called phone number matches the pattern. |
Caller-Pattern-match and Called-Pattern-match | Uses the ring pattern if the caller’s phone number matches the pattern AND the called phone number also matches the pattern. |

Adding a Distinctive Ring
Choose SIP UA > Distinctive Ring.
Configure settings using the information in the following table as a guide.

Add a Distinctive Ring Rule
Configures distinctive rings for FXS/Phone ports. Distinctive ring rules are applied in the order in which they are defined. If a rule matches, the ring pattern defined for the rule is used to ring analog phones on the FXS/phone port.
Note: You cannot change the order in which rules are applied. If the order is not as desired, you must delete or redefine the existing rules.

Action Adds or edits a rule. To add a new rule, choose Add new rule from the Action drop-down list. Caller Pattern Match Enter a caller pattern that triggers the distinctive ring. Called Pattern Match
Enter a pattern in the one or both of the following fields:
• Caller Pattern-match
• Called Pattern-match
Ring Type Choose a ring type from the Ring Type drop-down list:
• Ring-0 (default)
• Ring-1
• Ring-2
• Ring-3
• Ring-4
Click Add. The new entry is added to the Distinctive Ring Rules table.
Click Submit All to save your settings to the EdgeMarc.
- A message indicates that service will be temporarily interrupted. Click OK to confirm.
Editing or Deleting a Distinctive Ring
- Choose Edit rule from the Action drop-down list and select the rule you want to edit.
- Edit settings in the fields provided and click Add.
- To delete an entry from the Distinctive Rules table:
- Select the checkbox of the Rule that you want to delete and click Delete.
- A message asks whether you are you want to delete the selected entry and that service will be temporarily interrupted. Click OK to confirm.
- Click Submit All to save your settings to the EdgeMarc.
