The Ribbon SBC Edge system supports the following logging levels ---- each level provides more logging information than the level before it:

Log Level

Local Logging (1)

Remote Logging

Guideline

Trace

(error)

(tick)

Debug level trace used by developers. Logs the inner working of each module and could impact system performance.

Debug

(error)

(tick)

Includes code issues. This level and lower are intended to solve bugs in the relevant code, or possibly may be required when encountering an interoperability issue.

Informational

(tick)

(tick)

Includes call path and connection tracing information. This level and higher is sufficient to troubleshoot all configuration, setup, and interoperability issues.

Warning

(tick)

(tick)

An error has been detected, probably from an external source, which may require operator intervention. A call or other connection may have failed, or be in danger of failing.

Error

(tick)

(tick)

An error has been detected from an internal source, which may require operator intervention. A call has failed or capacity is reduced.

Fatal

(tick)

(tick)

An error so severe that the entire system is in danger of shutdown or reboot. This condition has probably triggered one or more alarms as well.

Trace provides the most verbose logging and Fatal provides the least verbose logging. The default level is Warning, meaning warnings and errors are displayed in addition to basic telephony and system-wide logging. Sometimes it is useful to adjust this level to see more detail.

(1) Local Logging

The 'Trace' and 'Debug' levels are not configurable when Setting the Local Log Level because they produce the most output and may impact overall system performance. These levels are however available when configuring Local logging at the Subsystems level.
