Not supported by SBC SWe Lite in this release.

The SBC Edge (SBC) system allows you to remotely shut down and power up the Application Solution Module (ASM) via the WebUI. Below are some of the common reasons why System Administrators would want to shut down the ASM:

  • If you plan on physically re-locating the SBC system, it is recommended to shut down the ASM first
  • If the ASM is running and wish to temporarily disable it
  • Useful when troubleshooting
SBC 1000/2000 Model Differences
  • SBC 1000
    • Does not shutdown or restart when SBC is rebooted.
    • The Power off is achieved via the hardware and does not need SBC communication service to be operational.
  • SBC 2000
    • If the SBC is rebooted, the ASM is automatically restarted. This makes it more important to shutdown the ASM before powering off (or relocating) the SBC unit.
    • The power off is initiated via the SBC communications service and thus needs the service to be operational for the command to work.

Never Power Off the ASM via Remote-Desktop

Always power off the ASM via the Ribbon SBC 1000/2000 WebUI. If you have mistakenly shutdown the ASM via remote desktop - the only way power the ASM back on is as follows:

  • SBC 1000 — Issue an ASM Hardware Reset via the WebUI
  • SBC 2000 — Physically power-cycle the RibbonSBC 1000/2000 unit
