When upgrading for Skype for Business or Windows OS, license labels are included with Upgrade/Downgrade packs from Ribbon. When you receive a label with a purchased license, you attach it to the Ribbon 1000/2000 unit to signify that the license has been installed on the system.

For detailed information about upgrading/downgrading your system, see

Labels are provided with the purchase of the following licenses:

  • Lync 2010 SBA
  • Lync 2013 SBA
  • Skype for Business 2015 SBA
  • Microsoft Windows 2008R2
  • Microsoft Windows 2012R2

Attach the label to the SBC 1000/2000 as follows:

  1. Access the bottom of the unit (if you must remove the Ribbon SBC 1000/2000 from the rack, review the Precautions and Safety Requirements).

For detailed information about handling the RibbonSBC unit, see Installing and Upgrading SBC 1000/2000.

  2. Identify the installation site.

Ensure the label does not obstruct any vent holes or prevent access to any part of the equipment.

  3. Place the label (s). Figure 1 is an example of attaching a Microsoft Windows label and a Lync Server label.

    Example - Attach Label

Make a note of the license key before attaching the label to the unit, you will need this when you activate Windows.

To activate Windows, refer to instructions at https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/help/12440/windows-10-activation.

Windows Server 2012 R2 license must be applied to each VM on the deployed CCE.

One Windows Server 2012 R2 license can be applied on up to two Windows Server 2012 R2. Therefore, two windows OS licenses must be applied for four VMs

  4. Return the unit to service. See Installing SBC Edge Hardware.
