The focus of this documentation space is on the Ribbon SBC Edge platforms. In this documentation space, the term "Ribbon Edge" refers to the SBC 1000, SBC 2000, and SBC SWe Lite products. To view SBC Core product documentation, click here.

 

The Ribbon SBC Portfolio addresses the next-generation needs of SIP communications by delivering embedded media transcoding, robust security and advanced call routing in a high-performance, small form-factor device enabling service providers and enterprises to quickly and securely enhance their network by implementing services like SIP trunking, secure Unified Communications and Voice over IP (VoIP).

The Ribbon SBC Portfolio provides a reliable, scalable platform for IP interconnect to deliver security, session control, bandwidth management, advanced media services and integrated billing/reporting tools in an SBC appliance. This versatile series of SBCs can be deployed as peering SBCs, access SBCs or enterprise-SBCs (e-SBCs). The SBC product family is tested for interoperability and performance against a variety of third party products and call flow configurations in the customer networks.

SBC Edge Series
  • SBC 1000 Platform – Targets smaller enterprise networks and delivers robust security, high availability and proven interoperability with leading business solutions like Microsoft Lync Server. The SBC 1000 also features built-in Survivable Branch Appliance functionality, so calls go through even if the wide area network goes down.

  • SBC 2000 Platform – Targets medium sized enterprise networks to safely and cost-effectively embrace the new world of SIP-based communications such as Voice over IP (VoIP). The Ribbon SBC 2000 also includes robust security, high availability and proven interoperability with leading business solutions like Microsoft Lync Server. The SBC 2000 – like the SBC 1000 – also allows call to go through even if your wide area network goes down through its unique Survivable Branch Appliance functionality.
  • SBC SWe Lite – A virtual SBC solution that shares a common interface with the SBC Edge 1000 and SBC Edge 2000, especially with regards to Skype for Business deployments. The SBC SWe Lite was designed to be easy to administer and operate, and use fewer vCPU resources.
