Ribbon SBC 1000/2000 Series equipment must be installed in restricted access areas such as dedicated equipment room, or electrical closet, in accordance with Articles 110-26 and 110-27 of the 1999 United States National Electrical Code ANSI/NFPA 70.

A RESTRICTED ACCESS LOCATION is a location for equipment where both of the following apply:

  1. Access can only be gained by service persons or by users who have been instructed about the reasons for the restrictions applied to the location and about any precautions that shall be taken; and
  2. Access is through the use of a tool or lock and key, or other means of security, and is controlled by the authority responsible for the location.
