This page describes the procedure for restoring your SBC Edge Portfolio system configuration from a file saved using the Backup Configuration functionality.
Screens shown below reflect Release 3.2.1 and later.
For Release 3.2, the Restore Data instructions appear on the screens; for Release 3.2.1 and later, the instructions appear in the WebUI when you scroll the mouse over the Replace User Passwords or Passphrase options in blue.
Restoring a Ribbon SBC Backup Configuration
The Restore function is restricted to the same platform. For example, restoring a configuration from SBC 1000 to SBC 2000, SBC 2000 to SBC SWe Edge, SBC SWe Edge to SBC 1000 (all combinations), is not permitted; an error message will display.
SBC SWe Edge configuration should be restored only on systems where the same logical interfaces are mapped.

This operation can be accessed either via the Tasks Tab or the Settings Tab:
- In the WebUI, click the Tasks tab.
In the left navigation pane, under the System, click Backup/Restore Config.
- From the Operation drop down, select Restore Configuration.
Under Select File, click Choose File. Select the SBC backup file you wish to restore.
The Restore function accepts only .tar and .tar.gz file types only.
From the Replace User Passwords drop down list, select Yes or No.
Replace User Passwords
Select whether you would like system login credentials (Web UI and REST users) from the backup file to replace those currently on the system, or whether you would like to retain the current login credentials.
In the WebUI, scroll the mouse over the Replace User Passwords field (in blue) for additional information.
Enter a Passphrase for the configuration backup (optional; up to 128 alpha-numeric characters). If a passphrase was provided during backup then that same passphrase must be provided when restoring the configuration. In the WebUI, scroll the mouse over the Passphrase field (in blue) for additional information.
Enter the same password in the Confirm Passphrase box.
Click OK. A reboot confirmation dialog appears.
In the confirmation dialog, click OK. If the passphrase is correct, the system is restored. If the password is incorrect, an error message is displayed. See Using the Custom Passphrase.
- In the WebUI, click the Settings tab.
In the left navigation pane, go to System > Node-Level Settings.
- Click the Restore Config link in the upper center of the Node-Level Settings window.
In the Restore Configuration to SBC Edge Portfolio popup window, click Select File and select the file to be restored.
From the Replace User Passwords select Yes or No. In the WebUI, scroll the mouse over the Replace User Passwords field (in blue) for additional information.

The RibbonSBC 1000/2000 takes about three minutes to reboot and become operational.
