Static IPv6 Route Table - Field Definitions

If the Destination IP field is set to "::" and the Prefix is set to "0", this is defined as the Default IPv6 Static Route.

Destination IP

Specifies the IPv6 address of the destination host or subnet. For IPv6, this entry is in a colon-hex notation (i.e., 2001:db8:10::100)

Network Prefix

Specifies the network prefix of the destination host or subnet (i.e., 0 - 128).

Gateway Type

Specifies the Gateway type in which the Static Route uses to communicate.  Valid options: Global Address (uses the IPv6 address assigned to the interface) or Link Local Address (uses the Link Local IPv6 address assigned to the interface).

The Gateway Type selected prompts additional commands, as follows:

Gateway Type EntryGateway Field (Mandatory)Gateway Field (Optional)Next Hop Interface Field (Mandatory)
Global Address(tick)--
Local Link Address-(tick)(tick)

Gateway

Specifies the IPv6 Address of the next-hop router to use for this Static Route. For IPv6, this entry is in a colon-hex notation (i.e., 2001:db8:10::100).

Note: This field is mandatroy when the Gateway type is set as Global Address.

Next Hop Interface

Specifies the interface used to map the IPv6 address to link-layer addresses for this Static Route. Select from the available Ethernet interfaces.

Note: This field is mandatory when the Gateway Type is set at Link Local Address.

Metric

Specifies the cost of this route and hence indirectly specifies the preference of the route. Lower values indicate more preferred routes. Typical value is 1 for most static routes indicating that static routes are preferred to dynamic routes.
