To Set a Static IP Address in Windows
- From the Windows Start menu, open Windows Control Panel.
- Open the network configuration settings.
- On Windows XP, open Network Connections.
- On Windows Vista and Windows 7, open Network and Sharing Center, and click Manage Network Connections.
- In the list of network connections, open the Local Area Connection item.
- In the Local Area Connection Status dialog, click the Properties button.
- Open the Local Area Connection item.
- In the This connection uses the following items list, select the Internet Protocol item
- On Windows XP, this item is labeled Internet Protocol (TCP/IP)
- On Windows Vista and Window 7, this item is labeled Internet Protocol Version (TCP/IPv4)
Click the Properties button.
- Click the Use the following IP address option.
In the IP Address field, enter
192.168.128.8
for IP Address, and255.255.255.0
for Subnet Mask, as shown below.- Click OK to assign the static IP address.
