Overview

The Logging Enhancement feature is in preview for SBC SWe Edge in 11.0.x and will be fully available in a future release. The logs captured may be a subset of the detailed logging; some cases may require full logging. Refer to Working with Logging

In a high call volume deployment, the SBC Edge Portfolio has a new mechanism to turn on logging for a call based on the call criteria you configure; call related messages will appear in the log when enabled by the call trace criteria configured. This new feature provides an alternative to filter based logging on subsystems individually. The following call criteria can be configured for logging:

  • Ingress SG
  • Remote IP
  • Calling Party
  • Called Party

The Call Criteria Table, available in the WebUI is used to store the call criteria configuration.

View the Call Criteria Table

The Call Criteria Table stores the call criteria data configuration; you add call criteria entries in which the SBC SWe Edge provides call trace messages in the log.

View the Call Criteria table as follows:

  1. In the WebUI, click the Settings tab.
  2. In the left navigation pane, go to Logging Configuration > Diagnostic Logging > By Call Criteria.

Create an Entry in the Call Criteria Table

Create an entry in the Call Criteria table as follows:

  1. In the WebUI, click the Settings tab.
  2. In the left navigation pane, go to Logging Configuration > Diagnostic Logging > By Call Criteria.

  3. Click the Create ( ) icon. The Create Call Trace Criteria window is displayed.

Perform Call Trace Logging - Configuration Example

Follow the configuration example below for logging based on calls details being traced on the Ingress Signaling group (Ingress SG).

  1. In the WebUI, click the Settings tab.
  2. In the left navigation pane, go to Logging Configuration > Diagnostic Logging > By Call Criteria.

  3. Add an entry to the Call Criteria Table and set the Rule Type to Ingress SG.
  4. Run multiple calls. Calls should be dispersed between the different Signaling Groups. For details on Signaling Groups, refer to Managing Signaling Groups.
  5. Access the webui.log ( Diagnostics > Logs > Local System Logs tab). The log displays the log lines associated with the calls using the Ingress SG. For details on the log display, refer to Managing Local Logs.

For achieve the best result log results based on call criteria:

  • Remove all subsystems from the Logging configuration.
  • Set the local log level to Error.
