Overview

Linked Signaling Groups support PRI interfaces only; BRI interfaces are not supported.

The Linked Signaling Groups option enables you to link a SIP signaling group to an ISDN signaling group. When the applicable Signaling Group (ISDN or SIP) is "Up" or "Down", the corresponding signaling group goes "Up" or "Down". For example, when a linked ISDN Signaling Group comes "Up" (initial state was "Down"), the corresponding SIP Signaling Group will also change the state to "Up" and send a SIP REGISTER request.

Linked Signaling Groups supports bi-directional control, which indicates a SIP signaling group can control ISDN signaling group(s) and ISDN signaling group(s) can control a SIP signaling group.

Bidirectional Control - Resulting Actions

The SIP Signaling Group in a linked group goes "down"

All corresponding ISDN Signaling Group(s) go "down"
The SIP Signaling Group in a linked group comes "up"All corresponding ISDN Signaling Group(s) come "up"

ALL ISDN Signaling Group(s) in a linked group comes "up"Corresponding SIP Signaling Group come "up"
ANY but not ALL ISDN SIgnaling Group(s) in a linked group go "down" or "up"Corresponding SIP Signaling Group stay "up"

Linked Signaling Groups - Things to Note

  • Any Linked Signaling Group (SIP or ISDN) going "down" because of its corresponding link Signaling Group going down, will also mark the call route entries as "down"; if all destination linked Signaling Group is down, the call route becomes inactive and an alarm is raised.

  • When a linked Signaling Group goes down (SIP/ISDN), the respective alarms are raised, but cleared when the Signaling Group(s) comes back up. See Viewing Alarms and Events.
  • When a SIP Signaling group registers to an external SIP Server and the linked ISDN Signaling Group goes "down", the SIP Signaling Group sends an unREGISTER to the configured SIP server.

Linked Signaling Groups - Limitations

The table below includes the minimum/maximum number of signaling groups (SIP and ISDN) allowed to be configured in a Linked Signaling Group.
