This procedure is not applicable to the ; Ribbon Application Management Platform is configured during the initial deployment of the via Azure Marketplace.

The Ribbon Application Management Platform can launch an SBC Edge Portfolio instance's UI in your internet browser, which allows you to configure, operate, and monitor the instance if the remote UI connection is currently active. For example, you can configure the RAMP Connector logging and view the current connection and remote UI status of the Ribbon Application Management Platform connection.

Note

This feature for the SBC Edge Portfolio requires the Ribbon Application Management Platform 21.11 Release or later.

With the Ribbon Application Management Platform enabled, the SBC Edge Portfolio sends a SIP signaling group (SG) and port status report and the most recent, highest severity alarm to the Ribbon Application Management Platform. The SIP SG and port status report includes information about the SIP SG and port's unique ID, administrative status, and real-time status.

Note

If a timeout results in the runtime status not being retrieved, then the SBC Edge Portfolio reports the real-time status as Unknown.

Requirements

To enable the Ribbon Application Management Platform, you must configure the Ribbon Application Management Platform panel (see the following procedure) according to your SBC Edge Portfolio:

  • SBC 1000/2000 - Configure the IP address or FQDN.
  • SBC SWe Edge - Configure the IP address or FQDN and the Management ID.

    Caution

When you enter the Management ID, you must insert a colon every two characters (00:00:00). Otherwise, the SBC SWe Edge cannot connect.

Troubleshooting Tips -  Intermittent Connectivity from SBC SWe Edge to Ribbon Application Management Platform

  • Wait at lease 2 -3 minutes minutes before determining connection is down; it may not be instantaneous.
  • Examine the rbbnramp logs and the response to the registration request the SBC transmits to Ribbon Application Management Platform. Ribbon testing experienced that when the SBC does not connect to Ribbon Application Management Platform, there is usually an error response from Ribbon Application Management Platform, and the problem is on the Ribbon Application Management Platform side.
  • For a failed response from the Ribbon Application Management Platform the retry to connect to Ribbon Application Management Platform is not instantaneous. There is an increasing delay with each retry, and  eventually only trying with a very long time out. This increase in delay is by design; when an Ribbon Application Management Platform goes down or has connectivity problems, all the devices trying to connect to it will not flood it at the same time with too many requests.
