This section depicts the maximum number of sessions between two codec types for an SBC 5110 using either DSP20 or DSP25 modules. Only one DSP20 can be used in an SBC 5x10, and it cannot be mixed with DSP25 modules within the same chassis, and between Active and Standby servers.

SBC 5110 With One DSP25

The following matrix lists the maximum number of sessions between two codec types for an SBC 5110 equipped with one DSP25 module. The SBC 5110 can be configured with up to four DSP25 modules; however, the maximum number of sessions on SBC 5110 is 10,000.

DSP Density Limitations

DSP density values are approximate and intended for use as a general guide when estimating transcoding capabilities.

  • The density highlighted in green may be limited by bandwidth depending upon packet size when SBC is configured with one DSP25 module.
  • The densities highlighted in yellow may be limited by bandwidth depending upon packet size when SBC is configured with two or more DSP25 modules.

If more than one module is installed, multiply the values in the table below by a factor of two, three or four, as appropriate, to obtain approximate DSP density values. DSP density values are approximate and intended for use as a general guide when estimating transcoding capabilities.

Values associated with the same codec (i.e. like-codec to like-codec) refer to re-packetization.
