The ConnexIP Operating System jump start installation is required for cases such as reverting to older releases or SSD drive replacement. To re-install the ConnexIP OS, follow the procedure below.
The ConnexIP ISO installation procedure automatically copies the SBC application package to the SBC platform, and takes around 30 minutes to complete..
When using the Java Console, ensure the target machine has Java version 8 (or lower) installed. The SBC does not support higher than version 8.
Download the ConnexIP OS files bundles from the Ribbon Support Portal. The file bundles below are examples, where N is the release number and x is the build number. To determine the exact OS versions, refer the appropriate release notes at SBC Release Information.
Refer to Downloading Software from the Ribbon Support Portal.
Reinstalling the OS will format your disk and erase all data. Ribbon strongly recommends saving configuration data to a remote server before reinstalling the OS in the event you need to restore the original configuration data after the re-installation.
The following procedure describes how to reinstall the ConnexIP OS:
Launch the host remote console through the BMC. Refer to Launching the Remote Console from the BMC.
Select Media in the JViewer and click Virtual Media Wizard.
The Virtual Media screen appears. Select ISO Image from the CD/DVD Media1 section of the screen.
Click Browse. From the Open dialog, browse to and select the connexip-os_<version>_amd64.iso file and click Open.
Click Connect CD/DVD. A message Device redirected in Read Only Mode appears on the screen. Click OK to continue. This mounts the ISO image from your local desktop or laptop.
On the SBC BMC GUI, navigate to Remote Control > Server Power Control. The Power Control and Status window is displayed.
Observe that the "Host is currently on" message is in the window.
Select the Power Off Server-Orderly Shutdown option and click Perform Action. This action brings the SBC host down.
Once the SBC host is down, from the same location, select Power On Server and click Perform Action. This action powers on and reboots the SBC host.
Once the BMC is up and running, access the JViewer window.
Press <DEL> or <F2> immediately, when the splash screen appears.
The BIOS setup utility screen is displayed.
Use the right arrow key to navigate to the Save & Exit menu.
Select AMI Virtual CDROM0 1.00 from the Save & Exit menu to boot from the virtual CD drive. This instructs the server to boot from the redirected ConnexIP OS ISO image.
Select Install and press <Enter> to start the installation.
The automated installation process starts. This process takes approximately 30 to 40 minutes.
Once the installation is complete, the disk partition upgrade starts. At this stage, DO NOT power off the system.
Once the system reboots, the ConnexIP login screen appears on the screen.
This concludes the ConnexIP OS installation/re-installation process.
Close the JViewer window.
Continue to install the desired SBC application build. Refer to Installing SBC Application.
