This object specifies the DNS servers for this address context.

Note

The SBC Core supports up to eight DNS servers per DNS group. The SBC 5000/7000 series platforms support up to 2,048 DNS Groups system-wide. SBC SWe supports up to 128 DNS Groups. See SBC Provisioning Limits for additional provisioning limitations. 

To View Dns Group - Server

On SBC main screen, go to Configuration > System ProvisioningCategory: Base Provisioning > DNS > Dns Group > Server. The Server window is displayed.

The Dns Group - Server can be checked for each Address Context or for each Dns Group or for all the Address Contexts and Dns Groups created. Use the drop-down box to select the desired Address Contexts and Dns Groups.

To Edit Dns Group - Server

To edit any of the Dns Group - Server in the list, click the radio button next to the specific Server name.

Make the required changes and click Save at the right hand bottom of the panel to save the changes made.

To Create Dns Group - Server

To create a new Dns Group - Server, click New Server tab on the Server List panel.

Name
 

The DNS group server name.

State

The administrative state of DNS Server configuration.

  • disabled (default)
  • enabled
Recursion Desired

Specifies whether recursion is desired for the DNS Server:

  • true (default)
  • false
IP Address V4 or V6 

Specifies the 32-bit or 128-bit IP address of the DNS Server in dotted decimal form.

 
Transport Protocol

Select a transport protocol.

  • TCP – Select to use TCP transport protocol for DNS query.
  • UDP (default) – Select to use UDP transport protocol for DNS query.
TCP Fallback

Enable flag (per DNS server) to support TCP fallback when transport protocol is configured as UDP.

  • Disabled (default)
  • Enabled
Priority

Specifies the DNS record data priority. Must be 0-100; default is 0.

Weight

Specifies the DNS service record data weight. Must be 0-100, default is 0.

Record Order

Specifies the look up order of the DNS server configuration. The options are:

  • priority (default)Specifies the look up order is according to the record data entries' priority assignment.
  • roundrobin—Specifies that the calls which land on a SCM task will access the DNS record entries in a round-robin fashion with respect to that SCM task.

     

    There are 4 SCM task.

  • centralized-roundrobin—Specifies that the calls will access DNS record entries in a round-robin fashion with respect to the whole system.

Enter all the required fields. You can click Show only required fields at the left hand bottom of the panel to view and enter only the required fields to create a Server.

To Copy Dns Group - Server

To copy any of the created Dns Group - Server and to make any minor changes, click the radio button next to the specific Server to highlight the row.

Click Copy Server tab on the Server List panel.

The Copy Selected Server window is displayed along with the field details which can be edited.

Make the required changes to the required fields and click Save to save the changes. The copied Server is displayed at the bottom of the original Server in the Server List panel.

To Delete Dns Group - Server

To delete any of the created Servers, click the radio button next to the specific Server which you want to delete.

Click Delete at the end of the highlighted row. A delete confirmation message appears seeking your decision.

Click Yes to remove the specific Server from the list.

Note

Before deleting a DNS group, first delete the DNS local record names and DNS server in that group.
