The SBC Core supports the use of the Master Trunkgroup Resource Manager (MTRM) to manage call and bandwidth resources on clients spread across multiple SBCs, thus enabling service providers to support enterprise customers using enterprise-wide CAC management down to the location and trunk group levels.

The Master Trunkgroup Resource Manager (MTRM) is basically a client/server model consisting of a Master Trunk Group Server (MTRG server) and Master Trunk Group Client (MTRG client). The server and client are associated with a common name. MTRG-server and MTRG-client instances can co-exist in the same SBC, or can reside in different SBCs.

The MTRG-server is configured with a CAC pool shared amongst its registered MTRG-clients. This CAC pool consists of call and bandwidth resources.

The MTRG client registers with the respective MTRG server and requests for a configurable margin of call and/or bandwidth resources. The CAC resources configured on the server are shared and dynamically redistributed between the registered clients. Each client can optionally maintain its own set of local resources and/or obtain aggregate resources from the respective server. As idle client resources fall below a configurable margin (calls/bandwidth per request), a client requests more resources from the server. The server, depending on the availability, may or may not grant the resources.

If the connection between the Mtrm server and client fails, IPTG will fall back to its local resources.

For the MTRG feature to work as per expectation, the egress and ingress callLimit of the IPTG must be set to unlimited (default value).

For Mtrm to work as designed, the parent cac pool should not be configured for a TG.

The reset command has no impact if executed on a disabled or out-of-service object.


Note

Each signaling port within an Address Context must use a unique IP address and port number combination.


Note

The  SBC 7000 system supports creating IP Interface Groups containing sets of IP interfaces that are not "processor friendly" (i.e. carried on physical Ethernet ports served by separate processors). However, restrictions exist regarding the usage of such Interface Groups.

(This ability does not apply to the SBC 5400, which has only two physical media ports. You may configure the IP interfaces from the two physical ports within the same IP Interface Groups without restrictions.)

Mtrm Conn Port - Client

In the Mtrm Conn Port screen, choose the Port Role as client to view the client parameters.

 Specifies the role of the Mtrm connection port. By default none of the options are selected. The options are:

  • client

Primary Server IPAddr

Specifies the IP address of the primary server. This can be IPv4 or IPv6 address.
Primary Server Port Number If the portRole is a server, this is the Mtrm listen Port, If the portRole is a client, this is the Mtrm server port to connect to. The value ranges from 4000 to 4500 and the default value is 4360.
Ip Interface Group NameSpecifies the IP Interface Group name used by this Mtrm Connection Port.
Mgmt Interface Group NameSpecifies the MGMT interface group name used by this Mtrm connection port.
Ip Address V4 

If the portRole is a server, this is the IPV4 listen address of the Mtrm Connection Port.

If the portRole is a client, this specifies the local IPV4 address.

Ip Address V6 

If the portRole is a server, this is the IPV6 listen address of the Mtrm Connection Port.

If the portRole is a client, this specifies the local IPV6 address.

Secondary Ip AddressSpecifies the IP address of the secondary server. This can be IPv4 or IPv6 address.
Secondary Port NumberSpecifies the port number of the Mtrm secondary server.
Health Check IntervalSpecifies the Mtrm HealthCheck interval in seconds. A health check message will be sent to peer at this interval. The value ranges from 1 to 50 and the default value is 5.
Health Check Timeout

Specifies the health check time out in seconds, client connection will timeout if no response is received from client and client connection will time out if no healthcheck message is received from server for this much span of time. The value ranges from 1 to 120 and the default value is 25.

Health Check Ignore

Specifies whether to ignore the health time out or not. If this parameter is enabled, health time out is ignored. The options are:

  • disabled (default)
  • enabled
Retry Count

Specifies the number of times the connection attempt will be made to the peer. The connection will switch to alternate server after number of retrycount expires. The value ranges from 3 to 20 and the default value is 5.

Server Reconnect IntervalSpecifies the amount of time in seconds after which the client tries to connect to the server. The value ranges from 1 to 150 and the default value is 5.
Force Secondary Connection

This parameter forces the Mtrm Connection Port to its secondary for a geo-redundant client.
enabled: If connected to primary, Mtrm connection port will be forced to secondary.
If connected to secondary, Mtrm connection port will remain connected to secondary even if the primary is available.
disabled: The primary server affinity will be restored. The options are:

  • disabled (default)
  • enabled

Mtrm Conn Port - Server

In the Mtrm Conn Port screen, choose the Port Role as server to view the server parameters.

Health Check Timeout

Specifies the health check time out in seconds, server connection will time out if no response is received from server and server connection will timeout if no healthcheck message is received from client for this much span of time.

To View Mtrm Conn Port

On SBC main screen, navigate to All > Address Context > Zone > Mtrm Conn Port. The Mtrm Conn Port can be checked for each Address Context or for each Zone or for all the Address Contexts and the Zones created. Use the drop-down box to select the desired Address Context and Zone.

The Mtrm Conn Port window is displayed.

To Edit Mtrm Conn Port

To edit any of the Mtrm Conn Ports in the list, click the radio button next to the specific Mtrm Conn Port name.

The Edit Selected Mtrm Conn Port window is displayed.

Make the required changes and click Save at the right hand bottom of the panel to save the changes made.

To Create Mtrm Conn Port

To create a new Mtrm Conn Port, click New Mtrm Conn Port tab on the Mtrm Conn Port List panel.

The Create New Mtrm Conn Port window is displayed.

To Copy Mtrm Conn Port

To copy any of the created Mtrm Conn Ports and to make any minor changes, click the radio button next to the specific Mtrm Conn Port to highlight the row.

Click Copy Mtrm Conn Port tab on the Mtrm Conn Port List panel.

The Copy Selected Mtrm Conn Port window is displayed along with the field details which can be edited.

Make the required changes to the required fields and click Save to save the changes. The copied Mtrm Conn Port is displayed at the bottom of the original Mtrm Conn Port in the Mtrm Conn Port List panel.

To Delete Mtrm Conn Port

To delete any of the created Mtrm Conn Ports, click the radio button next to the specific Mtrm Conn Port which you want to delete.

Click Delete at the end of the highlighted row. A delete confirmation message appears seeking your decision.

Click Yes to remove the specific Mtrm Conn Port from the list.

Mtrm Conn Port Commands

To view the Mtrm Conn Port Commands for any specific Mtrm Conn Port, click the radio button next to the specific Mtrm Conn Port to highlight the row.

The Mtrm Conn Port Commands window is displayed at the bottom of the screen.

Select the required commands to reset all the Mtrm Conn ports and click Select.
