In this section:

Use the GW Sig Port window to configure a signaling port for gateway-to-gateway (GW to GW) call signaling. The gateway-to-gateway signaling protocol transports call signaling messages between SBC (and GSX) instances over a TCP connection and requires that an external PSX is part of the network. The SBC supports gateway-to-gateway signaling on all platforms, including virtualized SBC SWe deployments.

The parameters to define the GW signaling port differ based on your type of SBC platform. For cloud-based deployments of SBC SWe (I-SBC or D-SBC), the parameters include IP Var so that the IP address for the port can be specified using a metavariable rather than a static IP address. For other SBC platforms, use the IP Address V4 or V6 parameter to enter a specific IP address.

The SBC supports a single GW signaling port at a time. The GW signaling port must be defined within the default address context and the defaultSigZone zone and assigned an index value of 1.


Note

Each signaling port within an Address Context must use a unique IP address and port number combination.


Note

The  SBC 7000 system supports creating IP Interface Groups containing sets of IP interfaces that are not "processor friendly" (i.e. carried on physical Ethernet ports served by separate processors). However, restrictions exist regarding the usage of such Interface Groups.

(This ability does not apply to the SBC 5400, which has only two physical media ports. You may configure the IP interfaces from the two physical ports within the same IP Interface Groups without restrictions.)

View GW Sig Port

On the SBC main screen, choose a path:

  • All > Address Context > Zone > GW Sign Port
  • Configuration > System Provisioning > Category: Base Provisioning > Signaling Ports > GW Sig Port

The GW Sig Port window is displayed. The following figure shows the window for an I-SBC or D-SBC (cloud) deployment that includes the IP Var parameter.


The following figure shows the window for non-cloud deployment, including the IP Address V4 or V6 parameter.

Create the GW Sig Port

To create a new GW Sig Port,

  1. Select default from the Address Context drop-down and defaultSigZone from the Zone drop-down.
  2. Click the New GW Sig Port on the GW Sig Port List panel.

The Create New GW Sig Port window is displayed. The following example shows the parameters for an I-SBC or D-SBC deployment.

This is a required parameter visible on hardware systems and SBC SWe systems that do not use metavariables.

Note: For cloud-based I-SBC, D-SBC and SBC SWe deployments, this parameter is not visible.

Port Number

1-65535

The logical port number of the TCP port to use for this connection. The default is 2569.

Role

N/A

The main role of the signaling port:

  • Primary (default) – the port that makes gateway signal link connection requests to other SBC, using its IP address as the local address for listening.
  • Secondary – an alternate port that is used for listening only and cannot be used to establish new gateway signal links.

When no primary port exists, the SBC cannot issue connection requests to other SBCs, whereby calls that require them are disconnected.

When a secondary port is configured as primary, the previous primary is automatically made secondary.

Mode

N/A

The operational state of the Gateway signaling service:

  • In Service (default) – the signaling port listens for incoming gateway signal link connection requests.
  • Out Of Service – the signal port is unavailable for incoming gateway signal link connection requests and thus cannot be used to create new gateway signal links to other SBCs.

State

The administrative state of this gateway signaling port:
• Disabled – Inactive
• Enabled – Active

IP Var

0-255

Specify the metavariable to use to assign an IP address to the gateway signaling port in an I-SBC or D-SBC deployment. 

Note: This parameter is visible for only I-SBC and D-SBC deployments in the SBC SWe.

Edit the GW Sig Port

To edit any of the GW Sig Ports in the list, click the radio button next to the specific Gw Sig Port name.

  1. Click the radio button next to the name of the entry you want to edit. The Edit GW Sig Port window opens.
  2. Change the variable value and click Save.

Delete the GW Sig Port

To delete a GW Sig Port,

  1. Click the radio button next to the name of the entry you want to delete.
  2. Click the delete icon (X) at the end of the row.
  3. Confirm the deletion when prompted.
