Modified: for 12.1.1

Overview

The IP Multimedia Subsystem (IMS) is a standards-based architectural framework for delivering multimedia communications services such as voice, video, and text messages over the IP networks. The IP Multimedia Subsystem architecture decomposes the network into distinct application, control, and transport layers with standardized interfaces to promote scalability, flexibility, and extensibility. The SBC 12.1.1 release supports the following functionalities:

  • Delivering X2 traffic from the SG pod and the X3 traffic from the SC pod to the LI Server on a CNF deployment.
  • If the link between the SG pod and the LI Server breaks, the SBC buffers the X2 message at the SG pod and re-attempts for delivery when the link re-establishes. The buffering is limited to 1.5 MB/Mediation Server.
  • Ensures only the active SC pod establishes the TCP/TLS link for the X3 connection.
  • Ensures only the active SG pod establishes the TCP/TLS link for the X2 connection.
  • Provides the TLS support for the X2 and X3 connections.

The OAM displays:

  • A per-SC pod view of the mediationServerMediaStatus (status of the X3 TCP/TLS link between the SC pod and the LI Server) command.
  • A per-SG pod view of the mediationServerSignalingStatus (status of the X2 TCP/TLS link between the SG pod and the LI Server) command.

On a CNF deployment, this enhancement also ensures that the LIF Group contains a minimum of one LIF of the segment type "SG" and a minimum of one LIF of the segment type "SC_CS".
