The Call Diagnostics screen aids to collect the following information:

  • Detailed view on active sessions and connecting sessions.
  • Statistics on Session Establishment Error and Session Media Error (no media flow, unidirectional media flow, and so on.).
  • Detailed Information regarding specific sessions, which includes the following:
    • Call-Id SIP
    • From SIP
    • To SIP
    • Contact SIP
    • Ingress interface
    • Egress interface
    • Local SIP IP address
    • External SIP IP address connected to NBI
    • Session duration
    • Start Session Time
    • IP port for each RTP Ingress and Egress
    • Information on trans-rating / Ptime (if applied)
  • Detailed visibility on RTP flox for a specific SIP session:
    • Jitter
    • Packet loss
    • Codec used

All the above details can be filtered based on the configured Address Context, Zone, a particular Trunk Group, or at a Global level. These information are available for download as .tar files.

To view the Call Diagnostics window, n the SBC main screen, navigate to Troubleshooting > Troubleshooting Tools > Call Diagnostics.

The Call Diagnostics window is displayed. It has two frames:

  • Call Diagnostics Options
  • Call Diagnostics Data Files

Call Diagnostics Options

In the Call Diagnostics Options frame, there are four drop-down lists:

  • Address Context
  • Zone
  • Trunk Group
  • Date Range

Address Context, Zone, and Trunk Group

"All" is the default option for the first three drop-down lists - Address Context, Zone, and Trunk Group. To apply a global selection, preserve the defaults. To retrieve records selectively, choose appropriate values from the drop-down lists.

Date Range

For the Date Range drop-down list, the possible options are:

  • For the date range
  • For the last (default)
  • For the specific date
  • On or after
  • On or before

To proceed with the option "For the date range", perform the steps illustrated in the images below:

If "For the last" option is selected, another drop-down box displays the number of days. Choose the specific number of days (up to a maximum of 31 days) for which the call details are required.

"For the specific Date", "On or before", and "On or after"

If  "For the specific Date", "On or before", or "On or after" is selected, a field with the Calendar icon  is displayed.

To select the appropriate dates, click on the Calendar icon. The actual Calendar drop-down is displayed.

Select the required date. The selection appears in the date field in the mm/dd/yyyy format.

NOTE: On saving the values of all the necessary parameters in the Call Diagnostics Options frame, the date fields are checked for valid inputs. The check happens if the Date Range drop-down menu is set to one of the following:

  • For the date range
  • For the specific date
  • On or after
  • On or before

If the date field is empty, an error message is displayed.

If the "To" date precedes the "From" date, an error message is displayed.

Click the Save Call Diagnostics button  after providing correct inputs for all the necessary fields in the Call Diagnostics Options frame.

To confirm saving, click Ok on the pop-up message.

While generating the call diagnostics file, a status message is displayed.

After the call details are saved a Success message is displayed.

Call Diagnostics Data Files

The stored call details are displayed in a table in the Call Diagnostics Data Files frame. The data is available as .tar files, that can be filtered, downloaded, or deleted.

To Filter Call Diagnostics Data Files

Call Diagnostics Data Files are filtered based on two factors:

  • File name
  • Date range

To Filter based on File Name

To filter and view the .tar files with a specific set of characters contained within the file names, enter the characters in the appropriate Filter box and click the Search icon.

Based on the characters used for filtering, the .tar files appear in the Call Diagnostics Data Files frame.

To Filter based on Date Range

To filter and view the .tar files with specific timestamps,click the  icon in the appropriate Filters box.

Select the range of date and time for the expanded calendar, and click Ok.

To Download Call Diagnostics Data Files

To download a .tar files, click on the  symbol corresponding to the file. Save the downloaded file to an appropriate location in your system. Untar the file using a tool suitable for your operating system, and view the data using any text editor.

To Delete Call Diagnostics Data Files

To delete a .tar file, click on the  symbol corresponding to the file. A confirmatory pop-up is displayed. Click Yes to confirm deletion.
