This section describes the procedure to attach Chassis Rails and Chassis Rack Ears and marking the rack.

Attaching Chassis Rails and Chassis Rack Ears

Follow these steps to attach the Chassis Rails and the Chassis Rack Ears:

  • Attach the Chassis Rails to each side of the chassis in an orientation using (4) #8-32X1/4" Truss Head screws.
  • Attach the Chassis Rack Ears to each side of the chassis using (2) #10-32X5/16" Flat Head screws.

The following figure shows how to attach the Chassis Rails and the Chassis Rack Ears.

Marking the Rack

The Chassis requires 2U of vertical rack space for each chassis installed in a rack. Mark the rack's front and rear vertical rails where you want to locate the bottom of the chassis. In an EIA-310 standard rack, the bottom of each 1U rack space is between the closest mounting holes in the pattern for both universal and wide spacing. Refer to the following figure. Align the bottom of the Rack Rail Guides, Rack Rear Supports, Rack Mount Brackets or 23" Adapter Brackets with these marks.

It is recommended to install the chassis on the lowest available space in the rack.
