In this section:
SBC 5400 systems configured for AC power are equipped with either a single or dual redundant AC power supplies. These are Customer Replaceable Units (CRU). The figure AC Power Supply depicts a dual redundant configuration. The AC Power Supply product code is SBC-5400-PSUAC.
In a dual redundant power supply configuration, the power supplies are hot-swappable meaning that a power supply may be replaced without powering down the SBC 5400 platform (provided that the redundant power supply is operational).
Parts and Tools Required
- Electrostatic discharge (ESD) strap
- Replacement AC power supply
To prevent damage from electrostatic discharge, an ESD strap is provided in the accessory kit. See Connecting ESD Wrist Strap to install it.
Replacing a Power Supply
Perform the following procedure to replace a power supply:
- Verify the POK green LED of the redundant power supply is lit.
- Attach an Electrostatic Discharge wrist strap to the ESD grounding point on the back panel of the chassis, and place the other end around your wrist (see Connecting ESD Wrist Strap for details).
Disconnect the AC power cable from the AC power supply as shown below.
Disengage the AC power supply by moving the latch to the left as shown below.
Pull on the loop handle to slide the AC power supply out of the SBC 5400 chassis as shown below.
- Install the replacement AC power supply into the SBC 5400 chassis by sliding it forward until you hear the latch click in place.
Reconnect the AC power cable, as shown below.
- Observe that the POK green LED on the newly-inserted power supply is solid green.
- From the application, ensure that no power supply alarms are generated.
CRU Storage
All SBC 5400 CRUs are shipped in electrostatic discharge bags and must be handled using appropriate ESD precautions.
The storage environment for these CRUs are:
- Humidity must be less than 95% (non-condensing)
- Temperature must be between -40C and +70C.
The ESD Susceptibility symbol warns of the presence of Ribbon devices susceptible to electrostatic discharge. Do not handle equipment without wearing a properly grounded ESD wrist strap.
