You can configure EdgeView to automatically import legacy EdgeMarc devices and collections from 14.x.x to 16.x.x. Once configured, any future 14.x.x modifications are automatically reflected on 16.x.x.
To manage legacy EdgeMarcs from EdgeView 16.x.x, perform the following steps:
- Create a new collection in EdgeView (refer to Creating Collections in EdgeView).
- Create a new user with Role type set as external admin (refer to Creating Users in EdgeView). Set the Collection Access to the newly created collection.
- Open EdgeView 14.x.x and log in.
Go to EV System > System Settings > EdgeView 15.
Enter the following details in the EdgeView 15 tab:
Enable EV15 Synchronization: Select the check-box.
- EV15 Address: Enter the EdgeView 15 IP address.
- EV15 Username: Enter the user-name of the user created in step 2.
- EV15 User Password: Enter the user password for the new user, created in EdgeView 15.
- EdgeView14 External Address: By default populates the IP address of logged in EdgeView 14.x.x.
Once this is complete, click Test EV15 Connection. “Test Complete: Success” message appears if the details you entered are correct.
Click Save and subsequently select Sync with EV15.
The Sync Status will display details of collections and devices in EdgeView 14.x.x.
NoteOnly users with defined email addresses and devices with MAC addresses are synced. The EdgeView does not sync users with usernames that contain special characters, as EdgeView 16.x.x does not allow usernames with special characters. Once synced, an automatic nightly process verifies that the systems remain in sync.
On EdgeView 16.x.x, select the collection created in step 1. All the collections and devices in EdgeView 14.x.x are populated here. Any changes made to EdgeView 14.x.x will appear on EdgeView 16.x.x as well.
