The Switch Monitor is only supported on the DSC 8000.

The Switch Monitor application monitors the physical IP cable connections between the respective DSC 8000 Ribbon Signaling System and the remote node.

This software application is accessible through the Web UI and provides the following:

  • displays the number and type of Ethernet Switches in the Ribbon chassis
  • shows the availability of the Ethernet Switches
  • shows the Ethernet Switch configuration
  • shows the availability of Ethernet ports
  • shows the Ethernet ports’ configuration
  • allows you to enable or disable Ethernet ports

Enabling and disabling Ethernet ports may be useful if you do not want to be notified and have an alarm displayed when a particular port has lost connections. For example, if your system is not configured for a failover scenario between ports 20 and 22, you may consider disabling event notification for these ports. Also, if your system is not configured for IMF, you may consider disabling notification for port 23.
