Service Descriptions

This section lists the services in the right pane under the Service Handlers tab:

TCAP Screening Service

The TCAP screening service allows the service handler to decide if the originator of the query is allowed to send the request. The TCAP screening service searches the various databases using the signaling message criteria given by the service handler. The TCAP screening service verifies if the combination of MTP, SCCP, and TCAP requires a mandatory event or a
user-defined event based on the combination of MTP, SCCP, and TCAP information. The TCAP screening service provides the following functionality:

• Signaling message analysis - the signaling message service handler searches the various tables provided by the service.

Enable the TCAPScrnSvc service in the right pane using Add a service to the service handler  procedure.

The TCAP screening service provides the following mandatory events:

• SERVICE ERROR
• TCAP ERROR
• SIGNALING RELATIONSHIP FOUND
• SIGNALING RELATIONSHIP NOT FOUND

 Number Portability Service

The number portability service allows access to the location routing number defined in local and wireless number portability. The service handler uses the information given by the number portability service to alter the behavior of the routing or to respond to a query.

The number portability service provides the following functionality:

• Generates an event based on the data found in a number portability service
• Derives a list of point codes for a subscriber number
• Derives a location routing number for a subscriber number

Enable the NPSvc service in the right pane using Add a service to the service handler procedure.

The number portability service provides the following mandatory events:

• SERVICE ERROR
• PORTED NUMBER FOUND
• POOLED NUMBER FOUND
• NOT FOUND
• SIGNALING RELATIONSHIP FOUND
• SIGNALING RELATIONSHIP NOT FOUND

Subscriber Routing Service

The subscriber routing service allows subscriber-by-subscriber routing decisions to be made. The subscriber routing service does not explicitly respond to the signaling messages, instead searches the subscriber databases using the subscriber number given by the service handler.

The subscriber routing service provides the following functionality:

• Derives a list of routing numbers that are applicable for a subscriber number
• Generates an event based on the data found in a subscriber routing service data

The subscriber routing service provides the following mandatory events:

• SERVICE ERROR

Mobile Identity Routing Service

The mobile identity routing service allows subscriber-by-subscriber routing decisions to be made using the MIN parameters.

The mobile identity routing service provides the following functionality:

• Derives a list of routing numbers that are applicable for a mobile identification number
• Generates an event based on the data found in the mobile identity routing service table

The mobile identity routing service provides the following mandatory events:

IMSI Routing Service

The IMSI routing service allows the information from the called party address and the IMSI routing service to derive a destination for the signaling message. The IMSI routing service provides the following functionality:

• Derives a routing number applicable for an IMSI
• Generates an event based on the data found in the IMSI routing service table

The IMSI routing service provides the following mandatory events:

Call Type Screening Service

The call type screening service allows the service handler to verify whether the calling number is allowed to call a particular type of number.

The call type screening service provides the following functionality:

• Verifies if a calling number is associated with various call types
• Generates an event based on the data found in the call type screening service table

Calling Number Screening Service

The calling number screening service allows the service handler to verify whether the calling number is allowed to use the network and access the called number.

The calling number screening service provides the following functionality:

• Generates a specific user event associated with a calling number
• Supports calling number analysis, custom list analysis, and system list analysis

Called Number Screening Service

The called number screening service allows the service handler to verify whether the calling number is allowed to receive calls via the network and if the called number grants access from the calling number. The called number screening service supports called number analysis, custom list analysis, and system list analysis.

The ANSI ISUP content screening service allows the messages and parameters defined by the ANSI ISUP protocol to be analyzed against user provisioned rules in order to determine the completeness and appropriateness of the messages and parameters.
