The DSC Platform supports one shared IP address for the management CPU cards and a unique IP address for each management CPU card (refer to Ethernet Connectivity for the DSC 8000). You can configure the management IP addresses on either management CPU card. The system automatically updates this information on all other CPU cards. However, a management CPU card must be present in both slot 2 and slot 13 because the system collects information from both cards.

Configuring the Management Network Interfaces (IPv4)

The following table lists and describes the Network Configuration screen parameters.

None of the fields can be removed once the IP addresses are defined. Following initial configuration, these fields can only be modified.

 FieldDescription
p19p1.3 IP address on slot 2Enter the unique management IP address in slot 2.
p19p2.5 IP address on slot 13Enter the unique management IP address in slot 13.
Management IP addressEnter the shared management IP address.
Gateway

1A gateway address is the IP address of a network point that acts as an entrance to another network. For example, in a corporate network, a proxy server acts as a gateway between the internal network and the Internet.

Netmask

1A netmask is a set of four number blocks separated by periods. Each number is normally represented as the decimal equivalent of an eight-bit binary number, which means that each number may take any value between 0 (all eight bits cleared) and 255 (all eight bits set). Every IP address consists of two parts (the network address and the host number). The netmask is used to determine the size of these two parts. The positions of the bits that are set in the netmask are considered to represent the space reserved for the network address, while the bits that are cleared are considered to represent the space set aside for the host number.

1Contact your System Administrator for the Gateway IP address and Netmask information.
