An Annex A link is similar to a Low-speed Link (LSL), with the difference that an Annex A link provides enhanced MTP Level 2 functions and procedures defined in the ITU Q.703.96, Annex A that are suitable for the operation and control of signaling links at data rates of 1.5 and 2.0 Mbit/s as a national option. This means that an entire T1 or E1 is used as a single channel. By contrast, an LSL uses a single timeslot on a T1, E1, or J1.

Before you can provision Annex A links at MTP3, you have to map the Annex A Channels to a port at MTP2.

In accordance with GR-82-Core, Signaling Transfer Point (STP) Generic Requirements (A Module of FR-CCS-18), Issue 10, December 2006, the DSC - SP2000 supports Memory Space Accounting (MSA). For more information about how this feature applies to Annex A links, refer to the appropriate section in the DSC - SP2000 Platform Manager User Guide.
