Referenced objects are deemed in use and cannot be deleted (as per arrow reference in the following figures: Dependencies of the Realm Definitions; Dependencies of the Application ID, Vendor ID, AVP, and AVP Alias Definitions; Command Code Definition Dependency; Dependencies of the Security, Capacity, SCTP, and CER Parameter Sets).

A Realm Definition can be referenced by DSC Nodes, Adjacent Diameter Nodes, Realm Routing Records, and Topology Mapping Records (see the following figure).

- An Application ID Definition can be referenced by Application ID Routing Records, Server Pool Application IDs, CER Application IDs, and Advertised Capabilities.
- A Vendor ID Definition can be referenced by CER Application IDs, Advertised Capabilities, and AVP Definitions.
- An AVP Definition can be referenced by AVP Alias Definitions.
- An AVP Alias Definition can be referenced by AVP Routing Tables.
