The Ribbon DSC is deployed with many Application IDs pre-configured. You can create additional Application IDs if required (refer to Configuring Application ID Definitions).

When configuring a Server Pool, you need to consider the following:

  • the name of the Server Pool (for later Web UI and/or management purposes)
  • the type of load balancing you want
  • the Server Diameter IDs that are part of the Server Pool (as Member Diameter IDs)
  • the Application IDs that are served by these servers (as Pool Application).
Example

For example, to configure a Server Pool of PCRFs with pcrf1.example.com and pcrf2.example.com, consider the following example:

  • Server Pool Name = PCRFs
  • With two Member Diameter ID objects:
    • Server Pool.Member Diameter ID = pcrf1.example.com
    • Server Pool.Member Diameter ID = pcrf2.example.com
  • Several Pool Application ID objects. The strings on the right reference names from Application ID Definitions.
  • Server Pool.Pool Application ID = 3GPP Gxx
  • Server Pool.Pool Application ID = 3GPP Gx TS 29.212 (other PCRF Application IDs omitted)
