You can configure your node to broadcast Transfer-Cluster-Allowed (TCA), Transfer-Cluster-Prohibited (TCP), Transfer-Cluster-Restricted (TCR), Transfer-Allowed (TFA), Transfer-Prohibited (TFP), and Transfer-Restricted (TFR) messages to adjacent nodes on the SS7 network when the node determines that a destination state has changed (such as when the destination becomes unavailable). These attributes are set at the linkset level and are enabled by default. The following procedure provides you with instructions to enable or disable these attributes.

You can customize the Signaling Link Test (SLT) attribute for the linkset, effectively overriding the Node value.

Caution

Do not configure the Linkset SLT while the linkset is active. Deactivate the linkset first, make your changes, and then reactivate the linkset (refer to Activating and Deactivating a Linkset)

Some deployments require the flexibility of aligning with nodes of the same SS7 Variant, but using a different Network Indicator (NI). The most common case is in ITU with NI 00 (international) and NI 01 (spare international).

Traditionally, the cross-NA GTT was used to cross the NI network boundary, but this solution only applies to GT routed SCCP messages. The NI override applies to all Signaling Indicators (SIs) including ISUP messages.

Caution

The point codes between the two aligning networks must not conflict and, hence, must be properly configured by your operator/technician. Otherwise, routing issues could ensue.

The attribute, Network Indicator provides the following values:

NODE_VALUE (-1)

  • NI_00 (0)

  • NI_01 (1)

  • NI_10 (2)

  • NI_11 (3)

The attribute is defaulted to NODE_VALUE on an upgrade of an existing system and on new deployments. The attribute is modifiable if the Linkset is inactive.

Note

This configurable attribute does not include the Spare SSF Bits that are used by some national variants to increase the NI value up to 4 bits.

To configure linkset broadcast and SLT

  1. From the Main Menu, click MTP3.

  2. Click the required NA.

  3. Click Linksets.

  4. Click the required linkset.

  5. Click Detailed Configuration.

  6. Configure the required attributes.

    Tip

The Restore Debug Defaults action restores the link logging configurations within the associated linksets to their default values.

  7. Click Continue.
