Use this procedure to perform a complete system backup for a DSC 8000 using a USB key.

Note

The term configuration data refers to the system and application configuration data.

Log files, with the exception of the upgrade log associated with the application load, are not included in a complete system backup and restore.

License files are not compatible across cards, systems, and software versions; therefore, these files are also excluded from a complete system backup and restore.

Prerequisites
  • You have the appropriate USB key for a complete system backup (as required).
    • Use a 16GB USB key for the DSC 8000 if this platform is running the x86_64 OS.

  • Insert the USB key into the USB port on either Management CPUs or their respective RTMs (slot 2 or slot 13). It is recommended that you use a 16GB USB key for a complete system backup.

Start
  1. Insert the USB key into the either USB port on one of the Management CPUs or its respective RTM (slot 2 or 13).

  2. Log into the DSC Web UI as a root user.
  3. In the DSC Web UI, select Backups.
  4. Click Complete System Backup.

  5. Click Start System Backup.
The DSC 8000 automatically executes the complete system backup and a message is displayed to inform you when the backup is completed.

  6. Remove the USB key from the AMC124 card after completing the backup procedure; otherwise, if the USB key is left in the port, the next time a reboot is required the AMC124 will boot from the USB key preventing the system from operating.
