This table can be used as the next screening step after the Allowed SIOs, Allowed SCCP CLG PAs, Allowed SCCP CLG PA Digits, Allowed SCCP TTs, Allowed SCCP CLD PAs, or Allowed SCCP CLD PA Digits screening tables for SCCP traffic.

The SS7 specifications do not require screening of the SCCP data but TCAP screening based on the operation code is a useful feature to assist Global System for Mobile Communication (GSM) or Code Division Multiple Access (CDMA) applications with traffic screening. There are two supported TCAP variants, ANSI and ITU, which do not necessarily match the SCCP variant. For example, GSM traffic in ANSI network uses ITU TCAP over ANSI SCCP.

The TCAP operation code can be configured with the SCCP Called Party Address SSN, the TCAP message and component type, the TCAP operation family (ANSI only), and the TCAP Application Context for TCAP service directional screening.

Note

The TCAP operation code is mandatory in the TCAP screening criteria. MSUs hitting the Allowed TCAP Op Codes screening table with an optional undefined TCAP operation code are successfully screening with no associated table record match.

To support TCAP screening for MSUs with optional undefined TCAP operation codes, the TCAP Op Code Optional feature must be enabled (refer to TCAP Op Code Optional Feature). When this feature is enabled, you can create Allowed TCAP Op Code records with Op Code Range attribute set to NOT PRESENT or the wildcard '*" value to match such MSUs.

The table is filtered with the EPR attribute.

To obtain all Allowed TCAP Op Code records, set EPR to zero (0).

By default, the next screening step is a successful STOP EPR.

Note

If linking to the next screening table (Allowed MAP IMSIs), the Allowed TCAP Op Codes screening table TCAP Variant attribute must be set to ITU.
