In this section:

The GTT supports multiple independent logical sets of translation rules. In the Web UI, a logical set of translation rules is represented by a GTT DB Def object. The GTT DB Def Manager handles the appropriate creation, management, and deletion of the GTT DB Def objects. Each GTT DB Def object is uniquely identified by its Name attribute.

GTT DB Def objects may be referenced by Name from a GTT NA to determine which set of translation rules is applied for the given NA. A GTT DB Def object may also be referenced from a PC Registration or App ID Registration to provide different sets of translation rules for subsets of traffic within an NA. Every translation record is logically part of a GTT DB Def, and the associated DB Def Name must be specified when creating the translation record.

For information about the PC Registration and App ID Registration, refer to Configuring the GTT NA Manager.

Every GTT NA needs an associated GTT DB Def. The SS7 Variant of the GTT NA and the GTT DB Def must be consistent. As shown in the following figure, cross-network access for GTT query between an NA and a GTT DB Definition (shown as Translation Table in this illustration) is only allowed if the respective NA and its GTT DB Definition are provisioned with the same SS7 Variant.
