Adding a 5129 Interface Connection

Perform the following procedure to add an individual 5129 interface connection.

You can add a maximum of 10 unique IP addresses to the 5129 interface connection.

To add a 5129 interface connection

  1. Select REMOTE ACCESS from the launcher tree.

  2. Select 5129 Protocol Interface.

  3. Select NODE-A or NODE-B.

    Select the active node.

        

  4. Select Configure > Add Connections or click the Add Connections icon.

    The Adding New Connection window is displayed.



  5. Enter the IP Address.

    The IP address of the message router of the NMS is required.

    For the IPv4 IP address type, the valid range is 1-223.0-255.0-255.0-254. These range restrictions do not exist for IPv6 addresses.

          

  6. Enter the Destination Node Name.

    This is the NMS name.

    The valid range is 12-50 alphanumeric values.

          

  7. Enter the Destination Port Number.

    The required port is on the NMS message router to exchange messages between the NMS and the System Manager.

    The valid range is 1024-65535.

            

  8. Select a Connection Priority.

    The possible values are High, Low, and Autonomous.

           

  9. If desired, in the Available DRCs list box, select the DRCs to assign to the port and click the >> button.

    The DRCs are displayed in the Assigned DRCs list box. Assigning DRCs is optional. Select the DRC and click << to unassign it.

           

  10. Click Apply.

Modifying a 5129 Interface Connection

Perform the following procedure to modify an individual 5129 interface connection.

The Destination Node name is unique for a connection associated with an IP address.

To modify a 5129 interface connection

  1. Select REMOTE ACCESS from the launcher tree.

  2. Select 5129 Protocol Interface.
     

  3. Select NODE-A or NODE-B.

    Select the active node.

             

  4. Select the entry you want to change.

  5. Select Configure > Modify or click the Modify Connection icon.

    The Modifying Connection window is displayed for the connection you selected.

        
  6. To modify the IP address, click the Modify IP Address option button and change the address.

    For the IPv4 IP address type, the valid range is 1-223.0-255.0-255.0-254. These range restrictions do not exist for IPv6 addresses.

  7. To modify any other item in this window, click the Modify Connection Details option button.

  8. Make the desired modifications.

  9. Click Apply.

Deleting a 5129 Interface Connection

Perform the following procedure to delete an individual 5129 interface connection.

To delete a 5129 interface connection

  1. Select REMOTE ACCESS from the launcher tree.

  2. Select 5129 Protocol Interface.

  3. Select NODE-A or NODE-B.

    Select the active node.

           

  4. Select the entity to delete.

    If an IP address has multiple connections assigned, then individual connections can be deleted from that IP address by selecting the individual connection and choosing delete. Selecting the IP address itself and selecting delete deletes the IP address and all its connections. If an IP address has one connection, then selecting either IP address or connection deletes both the IP address and connection.

           

  5. Select Configure > Delete or click the Delete icon.

    A confirmation dialog box is displayed.

  6. Click Yes to delete the selection or No to cancel the operation.

Shutting Down all 5129 Interface Connections

Perform the following procedure to shut down all the connections for all configured IP addresses.

To shut down all 5129 interface connections

  1. Select Configure > Shutdown to shutdown all 5129 connections.

    If you shut down a connection, you must restart it using the same method.

           

  2. Select REMOTE ACCESS from the launcher tree.

  3. Select 5129 Protocol Interface.

    Select the active node.

            

  4. Select NODE-A or NODE-B.

  5. Select Configure > Shutdown All.

    A confirmation dialog box is displayed.

  6. Click Yes to confirm the shut down or No to cancel the operation.

Shutting Down a Selected 5129 Interface Connection

Perform the following procedure to shut down one connection of an IP address.

To shut down a selected 5129 interface connection

  1. Select REMOTE ACCESS from the launcher tree.

  2. Select 5129 Protocol Interface.

  3. Select NODE-A or NODE-B.

    Select the active node.

          

  4. Select an IP address or select one port to shut down.

  5. Select Configure > Modify or click the Modify Connection icon.

    The Modifying connection window is displayed.

  6. Click the Modify Connection Details option button.

  7. In the Connection ID drop-down list, make sure the connection you want to shut down is selected.

  8. In the Shutdown/Restart drop-down list, select Shutdown.

  9. Click Apply to shut down or Cancel to cancel the operation.

Restarting a Selected 5129 Interface Connection

Perform the following procedure to restart connections that were shut down using the Modifying connection dialog box.

To restart a selected 5129 interface connection

  1. Select REMOTE ACCESS from the launcher tree.

  2. Select 5129 Protocol Interface.

  3. Select NODE-A or NODE-B.

    Select the active node.

             

  4. Select the connection you want to restart.

  5. Select Configure > Modify or click the Modify Connection icon.

    The Modify connection window is displayed.

  6. In the Shutdown/Restart drop-down list, select Restart.

  7. Click Apply to confirm the restart or Cancel to cancel the operation.

Restarting all 5129 Interface Connections

Perform the following procedure to restart all connections that were shut down using the Configure > Shutdown menu item.

To restart all 5129 interface connections

  1. Select REMOTE ACCESS from the launcher tree.

  2. Select 5129 Protocol Interface.

  3. Select NODE-A or NODE-B.

    Select the active node.

          

  4. Select Configure > Restart All.

    A confirmation dialog box is displayed.

    If the Restart menu item is not available, then none of the connections in the window was shut down using the Configure > Shutdown menu item. See the Restart a selected 5129 interface connection procedure to restart the connections.

            

  5. Click Yes to confirm the operation or No to cancel the operation.

Modifying 5129 Server Application Parameters

Perform the following procedure to modify 5129 Server application parameters.

To modify 5129 server application parameters

  1. Select REMOTE ACCESS from the launcher tree.

  2. Select 5129 Protocol Interface.

  3. Select Configuration.

  4. Select Parameters.

    The 5129 Protocol Interface, Parameters window is displayed.

  5. Select the Connection Retry Interval (seconds).

    The valid range is 1-3600 seconds.

           

  6. Select the Good Day Keep Alive Time Interval (seconds).

    The valid range is 1-3600 seconds.

            

  7. Select the Good Day Keep Alive Threshold.

    The valid range is 1-23.

             

  8. Enter a CLLI if it is not already displayed in the field.

    The valid values are 11 alphanumeric characters.

         

  9. Select either the Node Specific or Non-Node Specific option button to configure the 5129 database.

  10. Select Configure > Modify or click the Modify Connection icon.

    A confirmation dialog box is displayed.

  11. Click Yes.
