Complete the following tasks prior to starting the software upgrade.
Caution
Do not make system configuration changes during an upgrade. System configuration changes made are not included in the new software release and therefore, the system may not behave as expected.
Warning
Upgrading from more than 2 previous major releases is not supported. For example, the minimum requirement to upgrade to DSC 21.0 is DSC 18.0.

Prerequisites
- This procedure assumes you are upgrading from a 18.x.y release or later. If upgrading from a 3.x.y release, refer to the Release 18.1 Upgrade Documentation for more information.
