If you have purchased a SP2000 with PCE, most of the configuration tasks are automatically completed during installation. However, if you are adding PCE to a SP2000 that already has been configured, then you must perform a number of configuration procedures manually. The following information lists these procedures for your information. However, before you proceed with the installation, contact Customer Support for assistance (refer to Customer Support).

The required manual provisioning is as follows:

  • Networking
    • configure hosts (for example, pce1, pce2, pce3, and pce4), because each host must be able to access the other with SCTP and TCP (port 7101 and 7103, respectively)
  • Licensing
    • configure the license information, depending whether you purchased the Enhanced or Basic PCE
    • configure the licensing information for the correct number of NAs, VNodes, and STP routing (if required)
  • MTP3
    • ensure that you have two NAs for Basic PCE and three NAs for Enhanced PCE
    • ensure that the SS7 Variant and associated PC formats used for PCE, MTP3, SCCP, and GTT are the same. The PCE TCAP SS7 Variant may be different.
    • ensure that each remote destination has a routeset on its home NA
    • ensure that each destination on the SP2000 with PCE public remote and Public Gateway has a VNode created in the appropriate NA
    • ensure that links, routesets, and VNodes are all available
  • SCCP
    • ensure that the MTP3 Incoming attribute is set to SEND TO GT
    • ensure that the MTP3 Incoming GT Zero Length attribute is set to ENABLED
    • ensure that the SS7 Variant and associated PC formats used for PCE, MTP3, SCCP, and GTT are the same. The PCE TCAP SS7 Variant may be different.
    • ensure that you have two NAs for Basic PCE and three NAs for Enhanced PCE
  • GTT
    • purchase a GTT license only if you are required to configure the GTT for route public-originated TCAP queries or for GTT Tunneling
    • ensure that the SS7 Variant and associated PC formats used for PCE, MTP3, SCCP, and GTT are the same. The PCE TCAP SS7 Variant may be different.
    • provision the PC Lists which contains a value for the destination NA. You must design your translations such that queries are terminated at the appropriate NA.
    • set the GTT NA Connection Type to PCE for associated GTT NA creations if GTT routing is required
    • configure GTT NAs on public NA and also on other NA(s) if GTT Tunnelling is required
