The EdgeMarc can act as a firewall for voice, video, and data traffic. A firewall restricts and controls the traffic between networks, typically between a corporate network and the Internet. If an external firewall is used, the firewall configuration can be set to pass or block data traffic depending on whether the system is placed in series or in parallel with the external firewall.

The EdgeMarc provides a full layer 7 gateway for voice traffic and a stateful packet inspection firewall for data traffic. You can define policies to filter traffic that traverses the device or administration traffic that is destined to the device. Voice and video firewalls are implemented by VoIP Proxy.
