Overview
The SBC Edge Portfolio can be configured to use a Primary DNS Server, a Secondary DNS Server, and a Domain Specific DNS Server (Split-DNS) to resolve FQDNs.
The Primary and Secondary DNS servers are configured in the Node Level Settings. For more information, see Configuring Host Information and DNS.
A Domain Specific DNS Server is configured through the Split-DNS settings. The following section describes how to configure the Split-DNS.
The Split-DNS can also be configured using DHCP on the Logical Interface. For more information, see Configuring and Modifying Logical Interfaces .
Configuring Split-DNS
To create a Split-DNS entry:
- In the WebUI, click the Settings tab.
In the left navigation page, go to Protocols > DNS > Split-DNS. An IPv4 example is shown below; the DNS Server IP can be configured with IPv4 or IPv6.
Click the Create Split DNS List Entry () icon at the top of the Split DNS page.
- Enter the following information.
- In DNS Server IP, enter the IP address for the specific domain (IPv4 or IPv6).
In Domain Name, enter the domain name for the specific domain.
Click OK.
The entry now appears in the Split DNS table.

DNS Server IP
A DNS server may be associated with many domain names. One entry should be configured for each DNS server and domain combination.
When a domain-specific DNS server fails, it fails over to the next domain-specific DNS server associated with that domain. Global DNS servers are not used for a domain, even if all of the configured domain-specific DNS servers fail.
Domain Name
One entry should be configured for each domain and DNS server combination.
