This procedure explains how to configure the DNS Server for use with the SBC SBA in a Skype Server deployment.

Verifying the DNS Reverse Lookup

  1. Connect to the DNS machine using a Remote Desktop Application.
  2. Log into the DNS machine using administrator credentials.

  3. Launch the DNS snap-in.

  4. Expand the tree until you reach the computer name of the DNS server.

  5. Verify that there is one entry for each network in the domain in the Reverse Lookup Zones directory.

    Note: The name is in reverse order. For example: the network 134.56.226.0 appears as 226.56.134.in-addr.arpa.

Configuring DNS Auto Login

  1. Connect to the DNS machine using a Remote Desktop Application.
  2. Log into the DNS machine using administrator credentials.

  3. Launch the DNS snap-in.

  4. Expand the tree until you reach the computer name of the DNS server.
  5. Right click the _TCP folder.
  6. Select Other New Records....
  7. Select Service Location (SRV).
  8. click "Create Record".
  9. In the Service Location (SRV tab*, make the following selections:
    1. Enter _sipinternaltls in the Service text box.
    2. Enter_TCP in the Protocol: text box.
    3. Enter the cspool FQDN in the Host offering this servide: text box.
  10. Click OK.

Adding a DNS record for Ribbon SBC

  1. Connect to the DNS machine using a Remote Desktop Application.
  2. Log into the DNS machine using administrator credentials.

  3. Launch the DNS snap-in.

  4. Expand the tree until you reach the computer name of the DNS server.
  5. Right click the appropriate domain.
  6. Select New Host (A or AAAA)....
  7. Enter the command name of the SBC in the Name: text box.
  8. Enter the IP Address of the SBC in the IP address: text box.
  9. Select Create associated pointer (PTR) record.
  10. Click OK.
