Overview

The SIP Message Rule option enables you to export/import SIP Message Manipulation (SMM) rules. This function allows the SMM rules to be moved from one node to another, which eliminates re-configung multiple nodes with the same configuration. Rules can be exported/imported from a selected Message Table or Signaling Group. This task will export all required data, including any condition rules associated with the message rules (condition rules are simple rules that apply to a specific component of a message, such as diversion.uri.host, from.uri.host, etc.)

Export SIP Message Rule

To export a SIP Message Rule

  1. In the WebUI, click the Tasks tab.

  2. In the left navigation pane, go to SIP Setup > SIP Message Rule.

  3. Enter the configuration. See SIP Message Manipulation Configuration Export - Field Properties.
  4. Click OK. A message asks you to confirm export of the SIP configuration.
  5. Click OK. A message asks you to save the file (file name is SMMConfiguration.xml). Select a location and save. This saved location will be used when you import this configuration file to another node. See Import SIP Message Rule.
  6. Perform a save and click OK.

Import SIP Message Rule

The imported SIP Message manipulation rules will override the existing configuration in the SBC.

To import a SIP Message Rule

  1. In the WebUI, click the Tasks tab.

  2. In the left navigation pane, go to SIP Setup > SIP Message Rule.

  3. Enter the configuration. See SIP Message Manipulation Configuration Import - Field Properties.
  4. Click Browse to select the SMMconfiguration.xml file (located in the directory in which you saved the exported configuration file, see Export SIP Message Rule).
  5. Click OK. A message asks you to confirm import of the SIP configuration.
  6. Click OK. The SMMConfiguration.xml file is imported into the SBC and overwrites the existing configuration.

SIP Message Manipulation Configuration Export/Import  - Field Properties

Operation

Determines whether the SBC will import or export the SIP Message Manipulation rules. Select from the drop down list. Valid entries: Export or Import.

Depending on the option chosen, specific configuration fields are displayed. These are noted below.

SIP Message Manipulation Configuration Export - Field Properties

The fields below are displayed when Export is selected from the Operation drop down list. These fields define the configuration required for exporting Sip Manipulation Message rules. The rules are exported into a file, which can then be imported into another node.

Export From

Determines from where the SIP Message Manipulation rules are exported. Select from the drop down list. Available options: Signaling Group or Message Table. Depending on the option you choose, specific configuration fields are displayed.

SIP Signaling Group

Allows you to choose the SIP Signaling group from which the SIP Message Manipulation rules are exported. The options in this drop down list are generated from the SIP Signaling Groups already created in the SBC. This field is available only when Signaling Group is selected from the Export From drop down list. For more information about creating SIP Signaling Groups, see Creating and Modifying SIP Signaling Groups.

Signaling Group Message Direction

For the selected Signaling Group, determines the message direction from which SIP Message Manipulation rules are exported. Select from the drop down list. Valid entry: Incoming or Outgoing. 

SIP Message Manipulation Configuration Import - Field Properties

The fields below are displayed when Import is selected from the Operation drop down list. These fields define the configuration for importing SIP Message Manipulation rules. Rules are imported from a filethat were previously exported.

Select File

Selects the file from which the SIP Manipulation Message rules are imported. Click the Browse... button and locate SMMConfiguration.xml (this file contains the SIP Message Manipulation rules that was previously exported from another node, see Export). Click OK.

Import To

Determines the location to which the SIP Message Manipulation rules are imported. Select from the drop down list. Available options: Signaling Group or Message Table. Depending on the option you choose, specific configuration fields are displayed.

SIP Signaling Group

Determines the SIP Signaling Group to which the SIP Message Manipulation rules are imported. The options in this drop down list are generated from the SIP Signaling Groups already created in the SBC. This field is available only when Signaling Group is selected from the Import To drop down list. For more information about creating SIP Signaling Groups, see Creating and Modifying SIP Signaling Groups.

Signaling Group side

For the selected Signaling Group, determines the signaling side to which SIP Message Manipulation rules are imported. Select from the drop down list. Valid entry: Ingress or Egress.
