In this section:


Use the Network page to configure networking configuration parameters for private networks. You can configure network interface settings such as an IP address, DNS servers, and VLANs.

Note

By default, the system is configured with an IP address of 192.168.1.250 and a mask of 255.255.255.0. This allows you to initially access the system using a PC with an IP address belonging to the 192.168.1.0/24 subnet.  

To configure settings on the Network configuration page:

  1. Choose Network from the Configuration Menu.

  2. Configure settings using the information in the following table as a guide. When you finish configuring settings, click Submit to make your changes take effect.

Allows you to configure settings such as an IP address, DNS Servers and VLANs.

Enable DHCPConfigures the device to obtain an IP address dynamically from a DHCP server.
IP Address

Specifies the IP address needed to establish the connection to the LAN.
Note: The system is shipped with a default LAN IP address of 192.168.1.1 and a default password.

Subnet MaskSpecifies the network mask associated with the IP address. Default is 255.255.255.0.
Default GatewaySpecifies the default gateway.

DNS Servers
See Configuring DNS Servers.

Use DNS addresses from providerConfigures the device to obtain DNS server IP addresses dynamically from the DHCP server.
Primary DNS ServerSpecifies the IP address of the Primary DNS Server.
Secondary DNS ServerSpecifies the IP address of the Secondary DNS Server.
Enable LLDP-MEDConfigures the system to auto-detect VLAN settings.
Enable VLANConfigures the system for manual configuration of VLAN settings.
VLAN IDSpecifies the VLAN ID of the VLAN that the system is connected to.
VLAN PrioritySpecifies the VLAN Priority Value. This value ranges from 0 to 7.

Configuring IAD or ATA Mode

To configure IAD or ATA mode, follow the steps given below:

  1. Follow the steps in Viewing and Editing Your License Key to edit the current license key.
  2. In the Enter License Key field, enter your ATA license and click Submit.

    Note

    The license key submission may take a few seconds to complete.

  3. To configure non-IAD or non-ATA mode, follow the same steps, but with a non-ATA license key.

Configuring an IP Address

You can either configure a dynamic IP or a static IP.

To configure a dynamic IP address:

  1. Choose Network from the Configuration Menu.
  2. Select the Enable DHCP check-box. This will enable the system to obtain an IP address dynamically from a DHCP server.



  3. Click Submit.
Caution

If DHCP is selected, and you submit the changes, the system may be assigned a different address and you may lose connectivity to the system.

To configure a static IP address:

  1. Choose Network from the Configuration Menu.
  2. Enter the following details:

    • IP Address: Enter IP address needed to establish the connection to the LAN.

    • Subnet Mask: Enter the network mask associated with the IP address.

    • Default Gateway: Enter the default gateway.


    Note

    Enabling DHCP will disable these fields.

  3. Click Submit to save settings.

Configuring DNS Servers

You can configure the EdgeMarc to either dynamically obtain the DNS server IP addresses or you can configure static DNS addresses.

To configure the system to obtain DNS server IP addresses dynamically:

  1. Choose Network from the Configuration Menu.
  2. Select the Enable DHCP check-box. This will automatically enable the Use DNS addresses from provider check-box.

  3. Click Submit.

To configure static DNS addresses:

  1. Choose Network from the Configuration Menu.
  2. Enter the following details:
    • Primary DNS Server: Enter the IP address of the primary DNS server.
    • Secondary DNS Server: Enter the IP address of the secondary DNS server, if available.


    Note

    Enabling DHCP will disable these fields.

  3. Click Submit.

Configuring VLAN Settings

You can configure VLAN settings either automatically or manually.

For automatic VLAN configuration:

  1. Choose Network from the Configuration Menu.

  2. Select the Enable LLDP-MED check-box to configure the system to auto-detect VLAN settings.

  3. Click Submit.

To configure VLAN settings manually:

  1. Choose Network from the Configuration Menu.
  2. Select the Enable VLAN check-box.
  3. Enter the following details:
    • VLAN ID: Enter the VLAN ID of the VLAN the system is connected to.
    • VLAN Priority: Enter the VLAN priority value. This value can range from 0 to 7.


    Note

    The Enable VLAN check-box and the VLAN ID field are disabled when LLDP-MED is enabled.

  4. Click Submit.
Caution

When enabling VLANs, ensure that your PC is connected to the same VLAN as the EdgeMarc. If not, you may lose connectivity to the EdgeMarc
