In this section:
The following section is only applicable to the DSC 8000, the DSC SWe (on MA-RMS), the Signaling Platform 2000 (SP2000), and the virtual SP2000 (on MA-RMS).
The SLC uniquely identifies a link in a linkset. The SLC is a number from 0-15. If you want to change the SLC for an existing link, you must remove the existing link and then create a new link with the correct information.
An Annex A link is similar to a Low-speed link, with the difference that an Annex A link provides enhanced MTP Level 2 functions and procedures defined in the ITU Q.703.96, Annex A that are suitable for the operation and control of signaling links at data rates of 1.5 and 2.0 Mbit/s as a national option. This means that an entire T1 or E1 is used as a single Annex A link. By contrast, an LSL uses a single timeslot on a T1 or E1.
Before you can configure Annex A links at MTP3, you must configure the following:
- T1/E1/J1 SS7 interfaces and make sure that the local and remote nodes are set to the same interface type (E1,T1, or J1, refer to Configuring IO Cards and the SS7 Interfaces)
- Annex A signaling channels (refer to Configuring Annex A Signaling Channels)
Although you can configure Annex A-relevant timers on the SS7 Linkset L2 Timers screen (refer to Configuring Linkset L2 Timers), it is recommended that you use the default values for these timers.
