Using either the VMware vSphere Client or Web Client (shown below), accomplish the following steps to create a Datacenter:

  1. Open a web browser, and navigate to the VMware vSphere Web Client landing page.
    The VMware vSphere Web Client login dialog displays similar to below.

  2. Login to vSphere Web Client using your assigned username/password (in the above example, the default username is shown).
    The Home screen displays.

  3. From the navigation pane, select vCenter.

  4. From the navigation pane, select Datacenter.

  5. Click Create New Datacenter icon.

    The "New Datacenter" dialog displays.

  6. Create datacenter:

    1. Select Datacenter name field, enter your datacenter name.

    2. Select your vCenter Server (or choose a datacenter folder in which to place your datacenter), and click OK.

      The newly-created datacenter displays in the Objects screen.

  7. From navigation pane, click vCenter arrow to return to the vCenter Home screen.
