The System Diagnostics Dump screen allows to set the system diagnostics dump settings and run a system diagnostics dump. The system dump log is archived as a compressed tar file, and can be downloaded to a local system for troubleshooting and analysis.
To View System Dump Log Files
To view system dump log files, perform the following:
From the EMA main screen, go to Troubleshooting > Troubleshooting Tools > System Dump. The System Dump screen is displayed.

The System Diagnostics Dump screen consists of the following panes:
- System Diagnostics Dump Options—Specifies the system dump option information, which consists of the recorded state of the working memory of a computer program at a specific time, generally when the program is terminated abnormally (crashed).
- System Diagnostics Dump Logs—Specifies the system dump log information.
The following fields are displayed in System Dump Options pane:

Maximum number of core files to save | Enter the maximum number of core files to save. |
Maximum number of CPS core files to save | Enter the maximum number of CPS files that will be collected by System Dump. |
Maximum number of DSP core files to save | Enter the maximum number of DSP core files that will be collected by System Dump. |
Do not save cores to system dump | This option when selected omits the Maximum core files to save option if present in the core dump directory during system dump collection. |
Do not save CPS cores to system dump | This option when selected omits the Maximum CPS cores to save option if present in the core dump directory during system dump collection. |
Do not save DSP cores to system dump | This option when selected omits the Maximum DSP cores to save option if present in the core dump directory during system dump collection. |
Collect the policy database and PostgreSQL directories | This option collects the policy or PostgreSQL directories into the system dump. |
Do not collect the ACT files | This option when selected skips collecting the details from the files with the ".act " extension in the generated log files. |
Verbose mode | This option when selected prints every single detail during the system collection to the user. |
Collect log for | Specifies the logs that are collected based on the options selected:

System command results | Displays the system dump information that are collected based on the options selected and entered. |
If none of the above options is chosen, and the maximum number of core files, DSP core files or CPS core files are all left blank, the default behavior is to copy only the latest application, DSP and CPS cores and the past seven days of log files.
System Dump process aborts if there are more than two tar files in the directory. Delete the old tar files and then continue with the system dump process. System Dump process also terminates if the disk space on the server is lesser than or equal to 20%.
To Set System Dump Settings
To set the system dump settings, perform the following:
- Enter the maximum number of core files to save in the Maximum number of core files field.
Enter the maximum number of CPS core files to save in the Maximum number of CPS core files to save field.
Enter the maximum number of DSP core files to save in the Maximum number of DSP core files to save field.
Specify if you want to collect logs for a specified number of days or for a specific date range by selecting The last day(s) or For date range option in the Select Collect log for field.
- Click Run System Diagnostics Dump. The results are displayed in the System dump command results text box.
The System Diagnostics Dump Logs pane provides option to download and delete the log files.

To Download Log Files
To open the log file, perform the following:
In the System Dump Logs pane, click against the respective log file. A download confirmation window displays.
Select Open with, and then click Browse to choose the application to use to view the log file.
Select the application and click OK.
Click OK to initiate the download of the file to your local machine.
To save the log file to local machine, perform the following:
- In the System Dump Logs pane, click against the respective log file. A download confirmation window displays.
- Select Save File and click OK. A confirmation dialog appears.
- Click Save.
To Delete Log Files
To delete the log files, perform the following:
In the System Dump Logs pane, click displayed against the respective log file. A delete confirmation window appears.
Click Delete.
