Switch Ports displays the current Ethernet interface link settings for the system. If needed, the rate for each interface can be set manually to establish a reliable connection.
Choose Network > Switch Ports.
- Configure settings using the information in the following table as a guide. When you finish configuring settings, click Submit to make your changes take effect.

Link Rate Settings | Displays the current Port and Mode settings for the LAN and WAN interfaces. Port—Ports on the system. Mode—Choose the link rate of an interface from the drop-down list: - Autonegotiate (default)
- 10Base T-HD
- 10Base T-FD
- 100Base T-HD
- 100Base T-FD
- 1000Base T-FD
You may want to set the rate manually if auto-negotiation fails to select a rate consistently or if it selects a rate that is slower than the maximum rate supported by the interfaces. Note: Both sides of the link MUST be set to the same rate. Inconsistent rates may cause “flutter,” leading to intermittent voice outages. |
Detailed Link Rate Information | Lists view-only link rate information. If the negotiated rates change intermittently or the link is reported as no link or down, the link rate may need to be set manually. Both sides of the link must be set to the same rate. Inconsistent rates may cause “flutter,” leading to intermittent voice outages. |
Set LAN MTU size
| LAN MTU Size is set to reduce the latency that is introduced when large data packets are sent over a slow link. If left blank, the system automatically determines the most optimal MTU size based on LAN settings. Note: This option is not available on all platforms. Depending on the platform, the default setting for static IP address is 1500 bytes and the maximum value is 1500 or 9500 bytes. PPPoE links negotiate the value automatically, although the value can be overridden using this field. Caution: When the link rate is set manually, ensure that the device at the far end of the connection can communicate at the desired rate. Incompatible rates can cause a loss of communication with the system. |
