This section describes how to set up WAN network parameters using the Network page.
WAN interface settings are also required when you are configuring WAN failover (WAN Link Redundancy, or WLR). To configure WLR, choose Network > WAN Failover and refer to Configuring WAN Failover.
Configuring WAN Interface IPv6 Settings
Choose Network from the Configuration Menu.
Scroll to WAN Interface IPv6 Settings.
- Select one of the following methods to establish an Internet connection:
- Disabled-Default
- IPv6 Static IP
- IPv6 in IPv4 Tunnel
- IPv6 VLAN
- IPv6 T1
- IPv6 Mobile

IPv6 Static IP
Select Static IP (Ethernet) to configure a valid IPv6 address, prefix, and optional default gateway.
- In the IPv6 Address/Prefix field, enter the IPv6 WAN interface static IP address and prefix.
- Optional. In the IPv6 Default Gateway field, enter the IPv6 default gateway.
- Click Submit. A message indicates that service will be temporarily interrupted.
- Click OK to confirm.
IPv6 in IPv4 Tunnel
Select IPv6 in IPv4 Tunnel to allow IPv6 packet tunneling over an IPv4 network.
- In the Local IPv6 Address/Prefix field, enter the local IPv6 address and prefix.
- In the Local IPv4 Gateway Address field, enter the local IPv4 gateway address (typically the system IPv4 WAN address).
- In the Remote IPv4 Gateway Address field, enter the remote IPv4 gateway address of the remote IPv4 system providing the tunnel.
- In the Remote IPv6 Address field, enter the remote IPv6 address.
- Click Submit. A message indicates that service will be temporarily interrupted.
- Click OK to confirm.
IPv6 VLAN
Select VLAN to enable WAN VLAN support.
To configure WAN-side VLANs, go to Configure WAN VLAN Settings.
IPv6 T1
Select T1 as the first step in configuring a WAN T1 interface.
- Enter an address in the IPv6 Address/Prefix field.
- Enter a value in the IPv6 Default Gateway field.
- Go to Configuring T1 Settings for additional configuration settings.
IPv6 Mobile
The option Mobile is available only on EdgeMarc 6000 devices as LTE WAN functionality is available only on these devices.
Select Mobile from WAN Interface IPv6 Settings as the first step in configuring a WAN Mobile interface.
- Choose the allocation Method from the drop-down list.
- In the APN field, provide the Access Point Name. Get the APN from your network service provider if necessary.
- In the PIN Code field, enter the PIN code of the SIM card for connection with the service provider.
Configuring WAN Interface IPv4 Settings
- Choose Network from the Configuration Menu.
Scroll to WAN Interface IPv4 Settings. The Static IP radio button is selected by default (see IPv4 Static IP).
Select one of the following methods to establish an Internet connection:
- IPv4 ADSL
- IPv4 PPPoE
- IPv4 DHCP
- IPv4 Static IP
- IPv4 VLAN
- IPv4 T1
- IPv4 Mobile

IPv4 ADSL
Use an integrated ADSL modem.
This is available only on certain models, including the
- Choose Network from the Configuration Menu.
- Scroll to WAN Interface IPv4 Settings.
Select ADSL to use the integrated ADSL modem. You can also choose Network > ADSL Configuration.
- Configure settings on the ADSL Configuration page. See Configure ADSL Services.
IPv4 PPPoE
- Choose Network from the Configuration Menu.
- Scroll to WAN Interface IPv4 Settings.
Select PPPoE to initiate a PPP session over your WAN Ethernet port.
- In the User Name field, enter the PPPoE username provided by your ISP.
- Enter a password in the Password field.
- Select the Keepalive Ping check-box to periodically send pings to the specified host to monitor the status of the Primary interface.
- Click Submit. A message indicates that service will be temporarily interrupted.
Click OK to confirm.
To see the IP address given to the WAN port, click the Network Information link provided or go to Network > Network Information and refer to View Network Information.
IPv4 DHCP
Choose Network from the Configuration Menu.
- Scroll to WAN Interface IPv4 Settings.
- Select DHCP to get a WAN side IP address from an available DHCP server on the WAN side of the network.
Select the DHCP client monitor link state check-box to display detailed network configuration information for the system.
Select the DHCP client monitor link state check-box to display detailed network configuration information for the system.
- Click Submit. A message indicates that service will be temporarily interrupted.
Click OK to confirm.
To see the IP address given to the WAN port, click the Network Information link provided or go to Network > Network Information and refer to View Network Information.
IPv4 Static IP
- Choose Network from the Configuration Menu.
- Scroll to WAN Interface IPv4 Settings.
Select Static IP to configure the WAN interface manually. Static IP is selected by default.
- In the IP Address field, enter an IP address.
- In the Subnet Mask field, enter a subnet mask.
- Proceed to Configuring Network Default Gateway Settings.
IPv4 VLAN
- Choose Network from the Configuration Menu.
Scroll to WAN Interface IPv4 Settings.
Select VLAN and click the WAN VLAN Configuration page link.
You can also choose Network > WAN VLAN Configuration. You must first select the VLAN radio button on the Network page to configure settings on the WAN VLAN Configuration page.

IPv4 T1
E1 configuration is only available on certain EdgeMarc models. Refer to Configuring T1 Settings.
- Choose Network from the Configuration Menu.
- Scroll to WAN Interface IPv4 Settings.
Select T1 if your system supports E1/T1.
- In the IP Address field, enter the IP address.
- In the Subnet Mask field, enter the subnet mask.
- In Network Settings, enter a default gateway in the Default Gateway field.
- Click Submit to apply your changes. A message indicates that the service will be temporarily interrupted.
- Click OK to confirm.
- Configure settings on the T1 / E1 Configuration page. Refer to Configuring T1 Settings.
IPv4 Mobile
The option Mobile is available only on EdgeMarc 6000 devices as LTE WAN functionality is available only on these devices.
- Choose Network from the Configuration Menu.
- Scroll to WAN Interface IPv4 Settings.
Select Mobile.
- Choose the allocation Method from the drop-down list.

Configuring Network Default Gateway Settings
This setting is available when you select Static IP (Ethernet). See IPv4 Static IP.
- Choose Network from the Configuration Menu.
Scroll to Network Settings.
- Enter the default gateway address.
- Click Submit. A message indicates that service will be interrupted.
- Click OK to confirm.
Configuring DNS Servers
DNS allows one host to refer to another host by its name instead of its IP address (for example, google.com instead of 172.217.5.110). DNS service is hosted on the Internet, so you have to point your EdgeMarc to it. You can configure DNS manually by selecting the Manually set DNS check-box and entering information in the fields, or you can get it automatically.
To configure the DNS server:
- Choose Network from the Configuration Menu.
Scroll to DNS Servers.
- Select the Manually set DNS check-box to enable manual DNS settings. The check-box is selected by default on most systems.
- In the Primary DNS Server field, enter the Primary server address.
- In the Secondary DNS Server field, enter the Secondary server address.
- Click Submit to apply your changes. A message indicates that service will be temporarily interrupted.
- Click OK to confirm.
