Some of the DSC 8000 hardware components are Field Replaceable Units (FRUs) that can be replaced as a unit. Some FRUs are hot-swappable and can be serviced without powering down the system.
Warning
When the system is powered up, high voltages are present. Do not reach into the chassis enclosure.
Static electricity can damage electronic components. Wear a wrist strap grounded through one of the system's ESD ground jacks when servicing system components.
The DSC 8000 chassis can contain multiple Power Entry Modules (PEMs). All power cables must be disconnected from each PEM to completely remove power from the chassis.
Do not insert fingers or foreign objects into the DSC 8000 chassis while the chassis is operating and the fan blades are rotating.
- For the locations of the ESD ground jacks, refer to Figure Typical DSC 8000 Shelf with Ground Jack (Front View) and FigureTypical DSC 8000 Shelf with Ground Jack (Rear View).
- For more information about the PEMs, refer to Power Management.
- For additional safety Warning and Caution notes, refer to Agency Approvals and Safety.
