Set up the platform of an Edge 8000 Series device using Edge 8000 Setup Wizard.
This procedure generally applies to both the Edge 8100 device as well as the Edge 8300. Some steps in the procedure apply only to the 8300 device. Skip those steps if your device is an 8100.

Job Aid: Navigating Within the Setup Wizard
The Setup Wizard is a text user interface (TUI). To move between elements, and to activate selections, use the following keys from your keyboard.

From a serial console connection or an ssh client, log in to the CLI as the system administrator (sysadm) user.
Change to root user.
# sudo -i
Start the Setup Wizard.

System Configuration - Field Definitions

Hostname | Enter the hostname for your system, for example, e8000 |
Time Zone | Select the time zone for your system. Examples: For the Central time zone, select America/Chicago. For the Eastern time zone, select America/New York. For the Pacific time zone, select America/Los Angeles. |
Time Server | Enter the Time-Server FQDN value, for example, an FQDN value from pool.ntp.org. You can use your internal time server if you do not wish to use the public time server. |
RAMP Server | Add the IP address or the fully qualified domain name (FQDN) for the RAMP Server. |
PRI type | Select the PRI interface from one of the following options:

6WIND fast path cores | Enter the number of core CPUs to use for the fastpath. The available values are 2, 4, and 6. This field enables the router to access more core CPUs in the host operating system, which enables higher throughput and enhanced router performance. Note
The total number of core CPUs is 8, shared between the SBC SWe Edge and 6WIND. Refer to Complete the SWe-Edge Settings Menu to set the number of core CPUs used by SBC SWe Edge. As an example, to select 6 as the number of 6WIND core CPUs, you must set the number of SBC SWe Edge CPUs to 2 or 1. Note
Consult Ribbon Technical Support before modifying this setting, as Ribbon has optimized the default setting for overall Edge 8000 performance. |
From the System Startup Configuration window, select a bridge and press Enter.
The Bridge Configuration window appears, for example, BR1 Configuration window.
Enter OK to save the settings.

Exiting the Setup Wizard saves the configuration settings and applies the changes. This will cause a service interruption for approximately 3 minutes. The system will be unreachable during this time.
This operation causes a service disruption. Perform this procedure only during a maintenance window.
