Zero Touch Provisioning (ZTP) allows you to install and configure EdgeMarc devices quickly and more accurately, without requiring professional expertise. This means you can set up your EdgeMarc devices yourself without the help of trained personnel. EdgeView ZTP is a pre-provisioning tool that enables the automatic configuration of EdgeMarc devices and its redirection to EdgeView as soon as it is plugged in. Apart from automatic redirection, which is a typical feature of ZTP, it can also perform functions such as device firmware upgrade and configuration updates. Specifically, ZTP can:

  • Redirect device to EdgeView - Once an EdgeMarc device is connected to the public Internet (either using DHCP or a static IP address), the device is redirected to your EdgeView. This can be done with EdgeView version 15.4 or later. You can even assign a specific Collection that you would like the device to reside within.

Ribbon Edge ZTP Support

The global Ribbon Edge ZTP server is resolved through the DNS FQDN ztp.ewni.net. This is a secured server which Edge uses to present various installation data for Edge devices. Most critically, it serves as the point at which an Edge device discovers it's EdgeView home installation. Utilizing this server, it is possible for Edge service providers to configure this destination through their own EdgeView's Auto-provisioning functionality once their EdgeMarc device MAC address is known through the purchasing process.
